Very few rappers have more than one good album. Em has 3 classics. Even though he came from the underground, he's the greatest mainstream rapper of all time. Some say its because he's white, but it's probably because he didn't invent a fictitious gangster story and pass it off as authentic like Biggie, Jay, Wayne, etc. He self-deprecated and rapped about family shit people can actually relate to, with the most creative rap character of all time in Slim Shady. Tell me what other rapper has that psychological depth. I'm not a stan though, cuz I'd place Nas and Black Thought way way way about the rest of the rap game including Em.

Sur Raza He's not the GOAT, but are you serious? Because he's white, people ignored his first album and then ignored him through the Rap Olympics and Scribble Jam. Only once he became famous did being white help him, because before then, all it did was hurt him. I'm no stan and I think Em fell off but he's better than Jay, better than Wayne, better than Pac, better than anyone in the last 10 years. First rapper to self-deprecate and talk about personal family shit is HUGE for the genre, that was unheard of. Being white certainly didn't help him for SSLP or MMLP, but you're probably below the age of 18 so you wouldn't remember the media shitstorm. I see you're from Atlanta. Sur Raza Black Thought has 7 classics. Jay Z doesn't have 4 classics. Jay Z's best album, RD, was his attempt at copying Illmatic. Nas fell off, but I think Illmatic is better than anyone else's catalogue. Nas doesn't need anything else, but I would say It Was Written is better than RD. I have no idea how you have Jay with 4 classics. Name them. Blueprint? The Black Album? LOL. Good albums but not classic. Just because they sold doesn't mean they're classic. Now you're gonna tell me J Cole is a good rapper. LOL, good at crying and saying Fayettenam and all this other soft shit. I'll give you Kanye, he's probably the last legit artist in this genre. People say Eminem is famous and sold more just cause he's white. 2 things you need to remember - 1. Color and music has no relation whatsoever. True; but the thing is you have to look at it from a more abstract point. On avg, a white male is better off than a black male in a well-being saying (that's just the truth). A white boy can sit back nd study the hood and read, and put it all together become a lyrical rapper. Whereas a black boy will just hear his peers and pick up from there (not reading or preparing himself). So that wont give him the time to be creative or anything like that. That's why Riff Raff, Mac Mane, Eminem nd other white rappers sound more educated than most black

I partially agree. But, Nas, in my opinion is the most intellectual hip hop artist in my opinion. Not going deep into underground, by labeling him intellectual I mean, the most intellectual and socially conscious rapper who has appealed to many and equally influenced the hip hop industry like Em. And its a choice if you would wanna read and acquire knowledge or not. Eminem failed thrice in 9th, still an above average graduate cannot match his intellect and the way he puts his lyrics. I mean just listen to Sing For the Moment or Renegade, Bad Guy, highly poetic and relative and flabbergasting verses of all time.

Me and my friend would get high and freestyle for fun at parties and this black kid started in with us and he was incredible...I couldn't understand why he was so good and so we do it again at another party and I noticed it was the exact same freestyle. He had talent, sounded really good, and obviously an excellent memory...So I guess, like Lil Wayne is doing here, memorizing verses is still a difficult task but do we give him less credit?

Eminem is one of the greatest rappers of all time. Hopsin (I'm a huge fan, don't get me wrong) is too corny at times. He's like Eminem, if Eminem never did drugs when he was younger, so he doesn't have all the fucked up shit happen to him and all the anger so it comes out corny. Lil Wayne started off great, but it's clear money got too his head and he couldn't make a good rap song anymore even if he tried.
