Cancel culture isnt worse now than it was when Em came out. Theres a reason you have to go out of your way to find the uncensored version of his tracks. If anything it was worse back then, there just wasnt a name for it. What people get outraged about has just shifted from swearing in general to hate speech specifically. There was no such as cancel culture back then. Sure, Tipper Gore could go on TV and say it's bad but there was ZERO threat of the album being pulled and the Supreme Court long before had upheld music as a 1st Amendment right. Today most artists are solely reliant on social media whether it be IG, youtube, apple music, etc and these tech monopolies can unilaterally ban or shadow ban your account and they don't even have to give a reason why. If enough people from a so-called 'marginalized group' make enough noise and claim that a song makes them feel a certain way, these tech companies who don't give 2 F's about doing what is right; only that they appear virtuous to the snowflakes who claim words are violence, can and do easily remove your content and thus your ability to make a living off your art. And respectfully, I don't think you know what you're talking about on this issue. Because first of all, finding the uncensored version is solely based on what the social media algorithms are promoting or suppressing. But when this album came out in '03, which you clearly know not of what you're speaking, there was no such distinction between uncensored versions because every last record store, Target, Circuit City, Best Buy, Sam Goody, only sold the uncut albums; there wasn't even a choice. And literally the only exception was if you went out of your way to purchase it at walmart. I honestly don't even know what you're talking about because I never met a single person who owned a clean version of any album, literally ever. Despite what you may want to believe, canceling or banning music just didn't exist (other than in your revisionist narrative)
