You can give your child all the love in the world, and they can still turn out to resent you for something, maybe you didn’t buy them that toy they wanted. There are some very entitled children who I have seen throw tantrums to a parent that absolutely loved them and would do anything for them. These are usually spoiled children who got everything and then they was told “no” once and then they blow up

@@jennifersanford5936 It's nowhere near as bad as eminems, but I can say with confidence that the reason it took me so long to start my career in comparison to others was largely my mom. She wouldn't help me out at all with college, wouldn't help me at all with learning how to drive or get a car. Two very vital things for an adult male to get a decent job. Then every single time I had an idea to get out of poverty she would say how awful the idea was and always convince me out of it. So what happened? I became an adult with no college, no car, and the inability to have the confidence to carry through with a career idea. For 5 years i was stuck doing stupid low-paying minimum-wage jobs that were in walking distance, and by pure luck, I finally found a way to break the cycle. It scares me to think what would of happened if my luck break never happened. I don't shame adults doing minimum-wage jobs. Circumstances happen. But to be frank, there is also no dignity in it. People look down on you. People call you lazy. Your always tired, and the rewards for your effort are basically zero as you never have any money for extras. I am so glad to not be in poverty anymore.

I once asked my mother "Do you believe you did the best as you could've when raising us kids?"..... She said yes, with practically zero hesitation.... I proceeded to laugh hysterically. I was probably mid to late 20s at the time. Now that I'm 40, and a father of 3 little ladies, I could write a book on how much I've failed them. And I'm not talking a few times. Lol. I'm talking about hundreds of times& they're all under 7. Every day I try to think of ways on how i could've been a better dad. Hell, sometimes I waste time thinking about how to be the better dad instead of just being the good dad in the moment& end up being the worse dad while trying to be the better dad. The lessons are constant &I check my ego at the door quite often. That's even when I get told on a weekly basis how "good/ great/ awesome" I am with my kids. But as the saying goes, I'm my own worst critic. So to sit there and say you wouldn't have changed a damn thing is delusional at minimum.

I was this mother and in denial for years. I finally got clean 2-5-19 & have spent every day working to be a better person/mother. Too often, those of us with addiction issues have a very hard time taking accountability for their actions and the hurt they caused. I am doing EVERYTHING in my power to NOT be that parent. I have apologized. I have taken responsibility. I have put in the work to actually change. I’m now patiently waiting & praying for my oldest child to decide some day that she wants to reconnect. I can’t be upset if she doesn’t, tho; seeing as how I have been no-contact with my own parents for 9+ years now.🤷🏽‍♀️ Simply bc they don’t believe they did anything wrong.
