Eminem - Diamonds And Pearls - Complete Film
Музыка
Eminem is one of the most controversial artists around today. But where did he come from, what did it take to make him famous? Indeed, what is the real story behind his turbulent private life? Behind The Mask is an hour long audio-visual journey which manages to uncover the truth behind the Real Slim Shady, with masses of previously unseen film footage and more than 20 minutes of interviews with Eminem and his family. The DVD provides exclusive access to the Mathers' family photo album and gives the low-down on Eminem's neighbourhood, his present home and former workplace. The film also features Interviews with other top performers including Dido and Bono, revealing why they, like the millions who buy his records, consider Eminem one of the most important recording artists of all time.

"I got into rap when I realized I couldn't break dance" -Eminem
He’s really just a poet. He’s shy, gentle, and would never hurt anyone. But then he created this alter ego to deal with the trauma of his childhood

The alter ego wasn't created to deal with his childhood. It was created purely for the performance, to be something different. And to give a platform to be able to say literally whatever he wanted, this crazy stuff that he spits that is more believable for a fictional character than it is for himself

@@vincentvega9863are you actually stupid? Actually, maybe you don’t know enough and trying to come to conclusions based on your opinion. Infinite was his first studio album of which there were only five hundred copies and it flopped completely. Right at that time Hailee was born and he had a toxic relationship with Kim. I think he was even fired from the burger joint he worked at. At that particular time the overwhelming hardships that just kept coming combined with the hard upbringing he had beforehand led him to record Slim Shady EP where he unleashed his alter ego in response to all the bullshit he had at that time. He didn’t do it to appeal to masses. There were no masses that knew about him. It’s just by mere luck that that particular CD was given by him to an Interscope clerk at the Rap Olympics in 97 where Em got 2nd place. That clerk gave the CD to Iovine who showed it to Dre who then found Marshall. You need to first get your facts right before jumping to conclusions. Otherwise it just look like you are here just to hate. Maybe your life is miserable, I don’t know.

And here it is 20+ years later and he's STILL the biggest name in hip-hop. Long live the rapgod!!!
Eminem never gave up, massive respect to him.
Very true. I remember hearing "My Name Is" on the radio when I was 19 and thinking "what the fuck is this"! I was instantly hooked because it was so different to anything else at the time. I was even more surprised a week or so later when I discovered he was WHITE. Like you said, at that time it was unheard of, especially after Vanilla Ice embarrassing himself with his fake stories. I remember listening to The Slim Shady LP and thinking "this guy is going to be massive".

Eminem defiantly made history
Regardless of WHO is talking about him and WHAT stories they tell true or untrue, the fact still is that Eminem achieved the impossible and gatecrashed the Rap game as a White kid. Anyone reading this who is younger than 30 will not be able to understand just how unthinkable that was. Every White kid who now raps and is accepted for it has Eminem to thank for it. And as much as Em credits Dre for accepting him he still done it himself. Props to Marshal Mathers The One Tru King Of Rap Music.

Em was the Nirvana of the millennium. Him, his genre of music, the culture that is associated with that genre of music, etc etc, had affected and influenced the music world, the youth at that time, society, fashion, trends, lifestyles, etc etc. in the same way and to the same extent/as drastically and all encompassing as Kurt Cobain/Nirvana, his style of music, and the culture associated with that genre, etc etc, had affected and influenced every aspect of life/society and the music world when they hit the map and got recognized and insanely popular, just like Em did when he got put in the spot light and exploded. It's crazy how similar those two are, despite being on opposite ends of the musical spectrum. And I'd even go as far as saying the impact he had ended up being a lot bigger and lasting a lot longer than the impact Kurt/Nirvana had. I mean look at how things are today....the whole rap/hippy hop/"rnb"(even tho it's nothing even close to rhythm & blues and shouldn't be compared to it as it disgraces the name of that amazing style/genre of music)/that style of pop/the whole array of that branch of the musical spectrum is still super popular(for what reason idk cause 99% of it is shit), the whole culture/lifestyle/language verbage and slang/fashion and style/basically everything that has to do with it is the "in thing" and "what's hot" right now and has been the trend since '98-99 and has just increased in popularity/prevalence/main stream-ness/acceptance/idolization/emulation/adoration/etc etc steadily since then, gaining more and more people and kids to gravitate toward and adopt as their own everything that has to do with it. And yeah Kurt/Nirvana did that too, but it didn't last as long as this has, and really didn't become as accepted by the masses(including many parents) and wide spread as what Em started. It really is crazy to think about it. And I truly think that if he hadn't come along when he did and been who he was, our modern day society/pop culture/main stream music/fashion style/etc etc would be totally different than it is now. if not totally different, at the very least significantly different, and that whole genre/culture/etc etc etc etc wouldn't be nearly as popular and prevalent as it is either. He literally changed the world and society. That is not something seen regularly.

i know its been 6 years but i just wanna say i've always likened him and kurt cobain too but especially their personal lives. kurt's toxic relationship with his wife, his shyness, addiction issues and hatred of media as well as the great relationship with his daughter, you've already mentioned impact and public reception. like there are so many parallels to create its creepy. there are a few eminem lyrics where he jokes about cobain and his suicide but tbh i think thats because he saw himself in him a bit too and didn't like how he ended up. he seems like a guy who would consider people who kll themselves weak and selfish, especially a father.

Its a pity I never saw him live, face to face! I may not like swearing a lot myself, but I grew up with his music and I understand that he has good reasons to send such messages to some people! He came from such poor back ground and made millions of people to have hope for better in their lives.....,thats why I appreciate him! All his characters that brought in to his music its like bipolar in a way that we all feel ourselves! Its either to dark...,or too hilarious. It may not be healthy to be extreme in life but when you are in the music industry, that becomes poetry! He is a genius in words!

I think his uncle didn't get it. Earlier in the doc it says that she was diagnosed With mental illness and could one second be loving, the next withdrawn, and the next be shouting in your face. Do you have any idea what this can do to a kid? Who doesn't understand why his mom is behaving like this? I'm not saying she didn't love him, but this can be very though on a kid.
