Emily Wells in Concert
Performer, producer, singer, composer, and classically trained violinist, Emily Wells joined us in the Barn with her varied use of classical and modern instrumentation as well as her deft approach to live sampling. She has evolved into a uniquely modern singer and composer who uses a variety of instruments, from strings and drums to synths and beat machines, to create what NPR has praised as “gospel-folk music that’s immersed in secular desires and experiences” and the New York Times as “quietly transfixing.”

had to dig a little thru the media content but i found my Emily. This is was I was looking for. Watching you do your instrumentals. it so reminds me of Loreena McKennitt. So many have no idea how few make this magical music for my ears to enjoy.

Beautiful video quality to relive the live show I just got to see. But holy moly that crowd is a bunch of cold dead fish! I can’t imagine playing music to a bunch of people who are sitting still and staring at you without any dancing!

It's not always about getting up and jumping around to the music. This performance was more about HOW she creates and layers her sound, so it stands to reason the audience would want to sit back and enjoy the musical and emotional journey she's taking them on. Beginning and ending with the solo strings brings it back to an intimate moment which wouldn't be appropriate for dancing anyway.
