I thought so too. Until every time it was said the exact same way. Almost as if it was written for him and rehearsed. Several celebrities have their own amusing anecdotes that they tell the exact same way on every talk show.

@@HESSIAN578it's similar to when people ask you and your partner how'd you two meet. You tell the story so many times that it'll sound like it's rehearsed because of how smooth you tell the story.

@@redroman4214 Exactly. No, the story wasn't written for him and rehearsed, it's just that he's told it so many times it comes out almost the same way each time. He's also a professional actor, so repeating the same lines over and over comes natural.

the thing is, it wasnt said the same way everytime. One time he said they was ecstatic and happy or something.
There's something very ironic about John telling this story about being too American in a "three strikes and you're out" format.

Or, she thought "it's funny he calls me "the wife" to another man. If he called me that at home I'd kills him!" Personally, I think it' interesting how men speak to each other differently the there are no women around. And, if you interpret that as her thinking "that's me" I think that's just a bit of projection on your part. I don't know any woman who's been married as long as they have and are raising two children who'd get all adolescent and giggly about being called "the wife". That's a young newlywed woman. That customs officer would have been me if I was in the same situation! 🤣 Definitely punching above his weight!!
I find it interesting that Emily’s accent has become more and more American over the years. She’s at a point where someone who didn’t know where would have a hard time telling whether she was. Brit who spent a lot of time in the US or a Yank who’d lived in Britain for a long time…
