Emergency Crash Landing, Ride along inside fiery landing.

WARNING;
“USE or REPRODUCTION OF THIS VIDEO OR ANY OF IT'S CONTENT IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED WITHOUT PRIOR WRITTEN CONSENT".
This video was shot on Dec 14th, 2010 after a hydraulic line failure in our 404 Titan which forced us to make an emergency landing with the gear up and no flaps. Also, the emergency blow down bottle had a release valve malfunction leaving no options from that point on other than to find a place to sit it down. At the end of our 1300ft slide down the runway there was a small fire on-board which I extinguished before exiting the aircraft.
I'd like to send my thanks out to the (pilot), all the emergency ground personnel at BBG, all the engineers at Cessna,Wichita and lastly to the ground crew mechanics at Mountain Home Airport in Arkansas for their assistance in relaying communications with the engineers at Cessna, as well as for the mechanical knowledge they shared during this unusual situation we found ourselves in.
Since posting this video it's been pirated a lot, so this is the (OFFICIAL) real footage I took inside while this incident was taking place in real time.
“Any landing resulting in damage to the aircraft or ground infrastructure is deemed a crash by the FAA”Thanks for watching.

    It truly was close to the $1 million mark on repairs counting sensor repairs and total figures for man power, time out of service, etc. Although most planes would simply be retired or scraped out the 404's we use are mission specific and there's not many planes out there that can do what they do. Great work horses and unmatched endurance in terms of time that can be spent in the air. We routinely do 7 to 9 hour survey missions. Hope that helps!

    Hi sir! Great video, great handling of the situation, glad you and your pilot were able to walk away safely. Kudos to you for still keep replying here to date in pandemic 2020 considering the video was posted so many years ago. You have a new sbc here. My question, if you don't mind disclosing: what kind of survey mission these a/c do for your company? Why do they have to fly for so many hours at a time? Just curious, hope you don't mind me asking. Greetings from Brazil, maybe you can do the same type of operation here, there are many (good and bad) similarities between our beloved countries.

    My dad flew the F4 phantom in the air force for 17 years. I remember him telling me one of the most nerve-wracking moments of his career was when he lost hydraulics at 15,000ft while heading back to base. He had to dead stick all the way home after all attempts to get pressure back failed. He said he had plenty of time to consider ejecting or going in for a belly flop but really didn't want to lose the aircraft. When he went for landing he did one pass of the runway then brought it back around for the attempt. Given the fire crews had plenty of notice they had runway completely prepped, absolutely covered in foam etc and were lined up all along the runway. He said upon contact with the runway he started sliding then the right wing dipped more and resulted in the aircraft sliding sideways and it felt like it was never going to end. Next thing he knows the aircraft is trounced in foam etc and the crews are knocking on the canopy asking him if he's ok. To him the worst part of the ordeal was his flight status was grounded while the investigation took place and that not flying felt like he lost a part of himself. In the end he was cleared of any fault and could return to flight duty

    If your dad was *"""dead stick all the way home"""* >>>> How did he do this? *When he went for landing he did one pass of the runway then brought it back around for the attempt""""* This would be IMPOSSIBLE with NO engines! You don't do a missed approach with NO engine!! I was in the AF too AND worked on the F-4. This aircraft was a good fighter, but with NO engines, this airplane fell like a rock out of the sky. Its glide ratio wasn't that great.

    @@doesntmatter3068 Are you always so combative? 🤔 I looked it up, ok I got a term wrong. It's loss of propulsion. I always thought dead sticking was loss of pressure leading to alot of difficulty with the flight controls, the equivalent of something like losing power steering making it really hard to steer the car at low speeds (yes I know at a decent speed it's easier to turn the wheel, also know for aircraft the faster you're going, without that system it's harder to move control surfaces due to faster airflow pushing on those surfaces) No big deal, I used one term wrong, but never said he lost the engines, well technically I did by using that term, but the rest of my comment has no mention of that happening because he didn't lose the engines. Ive got no issue admitting when I said something incorrect. It's youtube, not the end of the world dude

    I flew A-4s in the training command. Simulated loss of hydraulics was a demonstration. From what I recall the A-4 was barely controllable without hydraulics. I don't know how you could fly a phantom with complete loss of hydraulics. I'm not trying to pick a nit here just curious. Maybe he lost the system controlling gear and flaps which could happen in the A-4.

    This may be wrong, but I found this video exciting and super co0ol to watch. The sounds of various parts impacting the ground and of the plane screaming across the runway was amazing. I*'m glad the two on board were safe and got out. I'd love to have a technical breakdown of the crash and descriptions of the sounds during the crash. I'm also curious if the plane was salvageable. Great job by the pilot and passenger (putting the fire out may have prevented the entire thing from going up).

    I have flown most of the 400 series Cessnas. Really good AC. Except for the engines the bird would be able to fly again quickly. Those will be expensive. It could max out your Sears card.

    Well handled there:-) I have a faulty nose gear on a Titan many years ago at night holding over the top of our nations capitol drome (Canberra) with a load of newspapers. Can you believe it the drome was uncontrolled in the middle of the night so had to circle for ages 'till all the services arrived as no twr open. Looking down at all the flashing lights waiting for the crash made me feel real good!:) Luckily was only a faulty indicator light a the end of the day/night but had to treat it as if it was going to fail upon touch down. Great machines the Titan's:-)

    I know airplanes are designed for survivability these days and to be able to do belly landings without breaking up, but this is still one hell of a flying job. Pucker factor always increases the difficulty of any maneuver. Has that a/c been put back in service, and how long did it take to get it flying?

    +rodcre8s ; I actually filmed and documented everything for insurance and safety reasons, also if it would have turned out worse and we not made it out I wanted my wife to know how much I love her. Sunsets are OUR thing and she would have known this is why I caught that one right before impact should it be the last chance i had to say I LOVE YOU. Thanks for the comment.

    I was in the exact position as this passenger was on a test flight as a volunteer crew chief on a restoration 1947 Twin Beach D18S. Just as the passenger on this flight assess both sides of the fuselage and wings before landing. The pilots did a great job as well as the passenger and evacuated the aircraft. We didn't know we had a problem until one of the ground crew told us our Landing gear door was ripped during our landing and I had not a single tool to pull the piano wire to release the door. After that I never flew without a tool bag. It was due to misaligned doors during swing test a week prior.
