No words can ever describe the beauty and power of that synthesizer played through literal skyscrapers of quadraphonic 2000 watt boxes scaffolded to the sky. My friend and I realized that when ELP finished up, there would be 200,000 stoned fans looking for their cars in the dark to go home. So we left a little early, walking past campfires and thousands of people. Karn Evil 9 was being played and there was a time delay between the front and back sound system towers, sort of like a physical echo. The timing distance changed as we walked along. It was super loud and almost sounded like it was coming from the sky. Intense memory of Cal Jam '74.

Thank you for mentioning the California Jam. I was there on that day in April. I had arrived early enough the night before to hear Keith apparently do a soundcheck on the Moog for about 15 minutes in the parking lot. There were several hundred others there too who heard it and cheered. The anticipation of seeing ELP the following night was so thick you could cut with a butter knife. Or Knifes Edge if you prefer.

Madison Square Garden. I saw the BSS show 4 times, 2 indoors and 2 outdoors. Indoors it was insane...you could feel the breeze from the speakers flying around. You should have heard it an enclosed arena...Madison Square Garden

this is what Bach would play if he was alive in 2020. A pipeless organ of mysterious power.

How lucky you are to have Emerson's gear over there. Some of us British fans would loved to have had that across here. Unfortunately most of us will never get to see the great man's keyboard set up. I'm surprised the didn't have something similar here in the UK dedicated to the great man in he's home land. But we'll done for preserving and using Emerson's gear. I was lucky enough to see ELP here in 72 and 74 and 92. and the Keith Emerson band here twice in the 90s and finally ELP playing the high voltage festival for there anniversary and final show in London. I first saw Keith perform with the Nice a few times here back in the late 60s and Keith's Hammond playing and showmanship done it for me and I was totally hooked. The British press hated ELP here, but just go to one of there concerts here back then and they were packed with fans. That speaks for itself !

I Saw Keith Emerson play this Moog Modular Monster in concert in the early 70s. With ELP. Definitely the most famous Moog and the most famous synthesizer in history. Incredible sights and sounds Burned in my memory. To see and hear it again here is beyond belief. One of a kind as was ELP.

I saw him in 1996, I believe he had it there. Stunning performance and you really had to hear this thing live to get it.

That Moog is a monster that blows me away, just like it did when I remember Keith playing it live. It made the floor vibrate.

The most unique & musical things was the thing blowing up on Karn Evil 9 at the end. Never forget that. Such an impact!! Was truly hooked on ELP from that moment on.

So, though not Emo's original GX-1.....would the owner of it sell it? Would complete my Pirates covers.... See some familiar faces there. Wish I knew of the event and if I could have attended.

I’m honestly surprised that there aren’t any videos of people playing these online. I know there’s only a handful of them out there, but when it comes to ultra rare expensive synths content creators a lot of the time will just borrow or travel to the owner to film a video. Maybe it’s just so expensive that owners simply just aren’t interested in letting a youtuber mess with one. Though honestly I can’t imagine these machines really getting that much recording time due to how extreme the options are. It’s like gas on steroids. But instead of buying it, it’s simply choosing what to do.

Thank you for asking. The video graphics were originally designed for Keith Emerson by his tech, Brian Kehew, for the TV monitor in Keith's Moog modular synth. They called it "EmoVision". This seemed like a fitting tribute and a great place for these graphics. There are many other videos on our channel at at emeapp.org that display the synth without graphic overlays, we encourage you to check them out. :)

@@emeapp4415 Thank you very much for your promt answer. Intersting to know it. In my humble opinion, as I am a keyboardist who loves modular synths, it's really painful not to be able to see neutral images.

You mean for one of the clone units from a few years back? We hear that! This is not one of those, however, this is Keith's original unit that toured with him for decades.
