In part one of our photo digitizing series, Willy showed you how to turn a selfie into vectorized art using the ToonApp and then upload it into the Chroma software. In this episode, Willy is back again to show you the essentials of digitizing vector art for embroidery and to finally reveal what the finished product looks like.
The first thing you need to do is finish digitizing the design. Make sure to apply trims, check over your work, and make any edits you need. Then save the finished design as a DST file and put it on your USB.
Now let’s go over what you’ll need to complete this project:
Pillow
Pillowcase
Mighty Hoop
Cutaway stabilizer
Take the pillow out of the pillowcase and hoop the case. Then insert the hooped pillowcase into the machine and insert the stabilizer between the fabric and the machine. Once you do that, transfer the design from your USB to the machine. Go to the screen, select the E hoop, choose your colors, and set the speed to 1,000 spm. Next, lock the machine, trace the design, and press Start. Once the embroidery is done, put the pillow back in the embroidered case. And there you have it! You can now create photorealistic embroidery for friends, family, or customers!

HI there, thanks so much for watching. Yes, when you digitize with Chroma, you will have the option to download and print a "run sheet," which breaks down the order of the color changes and stitches in your design. Hope this helps!
I'm so sad! I finished digitizing it on the free trial but I can't save or export it on Chroma :( Cool video though! Thanks for the tutorial

Hi there, if you have the free trial you won't be able to save or export the design until you purchase the actual software. We hope this helps!
hey man, I was wondering if this would work on denim? Does it have to be softer fabrics or can this method also handle lets say jean pockets. I always wanted to create jeans with designs on the front and back pocket.

i am plaining to purchase ricoma machine but software price is too high as per indian dealer but here it is showing less price if i purchase here can i use it for ricoma which i will purchase from dealer in india.

Hi! Since you are located outside the US, you would have to purchase it with the distributor near you.
My concern is the amount of software knowledge one needs to do what you just did. So in other words, even if I bought the machine it will take an eternity to learn the theory and the software funtions to implement anything.

Hi there, we totally understand where you are coming from. We don't deny that there is a learning curve. However, when you purchase the machine with us we do offer free training & support. While it may be difficult to fully grasp the concept of digitizing & embroidery, we are here for you every step of the way!
