What does the tip money collected by a self check out go towards? Running costs for the machine or the boss' bonus I wonder? 🤔 The store replaces people with machines where customers pay for items with no human help but the store still has the audacity to ask for a tip- FOR WHAT? A) no worker did anything to warrent a tip and B) where is the tip money going? Super sketchy amd audacious.

Being against tipping isn't about being cheap. The customer should not be responsible for making sure the staff get paid a living wage. That's the employer's job. At a restaurant I pay for the items provided at a significant markup for the convenience of not having to prepare them myself or having to do cleanup. Tipping should always be an optional addition for exceptional service, not an expectation. USA is broken in so many disturbing ways.

The crazy part is, in America, the wage for waitresses and bartenders is normally between $2.22 + $3.33. Knowing this is what compels everyone to tip. If we don't tip, they don't make anything. It's just a setup all the way around the board. Dreadful
For most of the U.S. you pay then you get the receipt and you add the tip on to that receipt afterwards. They shouldn't be adding extra afterwards. Also if they take out a tip automatically it's because you have so many people in your party (normally 6 or more people) already they go ahead and add the tip, but most places tell you this in the beginning. You are not obligated to add extra if tip was included, most people don't do that so don't feel bad about it.
I swear the cutest thing is when James covers his eyes with both hands when he laughs😭
One time I waved at someone from afar, we both smiled and shook our hands, turns out we had both confused each other for somebody else we hadn't seen in a while. We explained ourselves laughed about it and moved on... Phisically, cuz I still haven't mentally.

I think the only time I ever give someone the side eye for paying in all coins is when they say something like "It's the correct amount" all irritated when I'm recounting it after they just dumped like $60 worth of coins in my hand. Like ma'am if the till is short, it comes out of my paycheck so excuse me while I count. I never mind when it's customers who count as they hand me the coins so I can count with them at the same time. In fact, the more people pay with change, the less times I have to refill the till during shift. I worked at a gas station during the pandemic, coins became an absolute blessing. As a Canadian, I hate tipping culture. And people have become entitled. Like why am I paying for your salary on top of service? Glad you guys came through to the US. We need that Log Cabin Tour out here. Tip and Gratuity are different. Some places will auto gratuity and still ask for the tip. That gratuity is shared tips(in most places), and the actual tip at the end is personal.
I hope y’all are as friendly with each other irl as it seems on the pod. I like your dynamic

What if you had a 1991 Honda? 😂 Once I couldn't find it in the parking lot. I thought to myself "Who would want to steal this old car?" Turns out that it was on the other side 😅 I must of spend like 15min looking for it!😂 🤦
I can’t even to begin to explain how badly I want to end my life force when someone isn’t really waving at me

Tip culture is so interesting in the US. I am in a big city and have seen 1) my friends add a mandated tip to a party bc they had an accent and 2) complain because we passed a minimum wage rather than a tip and they think they will make less money. Can't have it both ways....and you have to trust the people that overtipped in the past will continue to do so.
I have seizures. It’s really, really humiliating. When I first started having them, the doctor wanted one recorded so they could tell the type of seizure and I saw the video. The idea that my family, and a couple times random people in public, have seen me like that makes me want to die. I’m talking foaming at the mouth, convulsions, making a huge scene….oh my gosh. It’s terrible.

I have seizures too. I lose consciousness but I look like I’m sleeping. My problem is the complete relaxation that leads to embarrassing things! 🙈

I have a brother with seizures, I am so sorry. Have you considered doing Keto to mitigate some of the seizures? There’s studies stating it helps

Honey, you shouldn't feel ashamed for anything that you can't control. It happens and *the important thing is you survive it and there's no damage to your body*. Bless you. It will get better.

Lmfaoooo that Tip Rant 😂
I'm so here for this. Don't know how I got here, but 30 vids in... I'm here😂
tipping in the USA is 15% -18% , 18% - 20% is reserve for parties over 6. But I agree it is getting out of hand. Places are now asking for tips that are getting paid a standard amount and not a tipper's wage.

About tips: in most food service places in the US, waiters/waitresses and hosts/hostesses make minimum wage. Here in Georgia, that's about $7.25/hr. Tips are often shared and/or considered part of their wage. When tipshare is a thing, the total tips for the night are calculated and split evenly between the workers, which can sometimes be VERY unfair. When tips are part of your wages, they tell you that you'll earn the minimum wage ($7.25); what they DON'T tell you is that your actual hourly pay is in the range of $1.80-$2.50, and your remaining $4.75-$5.40 must be earned in sales, and any negative balance will be taken out of your tip earning for the pay period. So, if a part-time waitress is only scheduled to work slower shifts for 2 weeks and isn't able to make enough sales to cover her own wages, and about 60% of the few customers she had in that 2 weeks tipped, there's a possibility that she will end up without anything extra for the pay period, which really sucks when you're earning $7.25/hr in corporate America.😵💫
James wave-flushing after destroying the toilet....hilarious 💩
I've NEVER been this early to an SNG podcast and now I get to feel the early hype
