🙈Embarrassed to share this! Also; how to create in a small art studio space, organise art supplies

I'm a little embarrassed to share this but I love to be honest! Sharing the reality of my studio and what I'm doing about it! How I organise, declutter, and then we can paint flowers! Massive art studio reset! Loads of tips and ideas! And, how I managed my art supplies when we lived in the van; managing a tiny art space. (Which is very challenging!) Then I went to the flower market and bought some beautiful roses to paint and make the studio look beautiful. A bit of self-love in a vase! We all deserve that don't we? With biggest loves from a messy, little artist! Thanks as always for keeping me company! Softest Hugs, Wendy. Xxx

Great job cleaning and sorting Wendy! I did that last week and it feels so much better in my art room now! I've just had an eye surgery a couple of days ago so it will be a few days before I can get back to arting! I really love your flower pic at the end! Loved the red on the canvas but then REALLY loved it when you made it mostly that beautiful blue! Sending warm hugs and much love from San Tan Valley, Arizona❤😘❤

Before I got on KZread, I did not realize that other peoples' living spaces were sometimes as chaotic as mine has always been. I think I feel better, knowing I have more in common with other people than I knew. Good job cleaning up, we all know how long that lasts once we "get going"!

I agree, I have quite a small area , but it’s my creative space. As long as you have a tidy up now and again it’s all good. I do try and tidy up as I go, cause I find it helpful for the motivation for the next day, if I have a clear space. But it doesn’t always happen.

@Argus Fleibeit my entire house is chaos. I've had some serious body/health problems for which I had three surgeries. I couldn't stand up for more than 45 seconds to a minute at one point. I've never been neat and tidy, except when I didn't have any stuff to get cluttered. That's my goal for the next year.

Please know that you, your studio (even when it is messy), your art, your voice, your whole way of being, has helped me more than you will ever know. I have stopped commenting on other’s videos, as, I feel a bit shy talking to others. I have been told that it may upset those I am writing to, as well as those who are not even a part of this community. I am not sure how being kind to others hurts them, but, I took their words to heart, and have been staying off of others comments. But, I just wanted to pop out of my shell one more time, as, I thought it was important for you to know. Thank you for all that you do, and all that you share. You make my life so much more meaningful.

I know this so, so well! My entire flat looks like this! I do paper things in my office, sewing things in my textile room and I cook in the kitchen part of my of my living room. My bedroom is the clean(ish) and clear oasis. Putting stuff away is never, never as enticing as getting rid of the last project. I dare say tidy people only think they are finished when the creative clutter has been put away… So don’t be embarrased! And thanks for showing us this moment in your studio when creating from abundance has slipped into stifling chaos.

I have found that the most creative people are the most prone to clutter. I always feel better when my work area is tidy but once I get to work it invariable attracts "stuff" that I need at hand. Then after a while I get overwhelmed and tidy it all up again. Repeat. I finally realized that it is OK for this to be part of my creative cycle. I no longer fret when things get messy, and I realize that it will need tidying up from time to time but that's just part of the process. You're doing just fine Wendy! And you're not alone!

You've inspired me, Wendy. I have my often used art supplies in a backpack, a sketchbook/art journal, some colored and sketching pencils, my most used watercolors in pans, and a set of five water brushes. It's a pretty effective portable kit that I take to a park or outdoor Cafe at least once a week. But the rest of my stuff, not just art supplies, is a huge, chaotic mess. I live in an A-frame cabin. I have few storage options and WAY too much stuff. I want to do a full declutter and have a more simple, minimalist life. I will be 59 this year. I want to enter my sixth decade in a different way. I don't have much time, but I will find a way.

I struggle with playing with my art supplies when my studio is a mess, but the rest of the family uses my space as a dumping ground as it's also the house office. This was very inspiring for me. I still haven’t figured out the best way to leave out my projects ans still be able to use my desk for other things besides drawing and painting. I tend to put everything way after even in the middle of a project and that doesn’t encourage me to create. So I want to try and figure out a way to leave my basic items I need out. I draw and do water colors so it seems like it won’t be too hard to figure out. I’m very excited as I am starting my journey of selling my own art. So this gave me a lot of inspiration. Thank you dear Wendy for sharing your lovely mess with all of us.😘 I enjoyed my cuppa with you this morning. 🍵 I am also a messy creator and find it quite challenging as my total working area is smaller in size than your wet table!☹ And it is in my teeny tiny living room!😯 I always work to focus on the positive aspects...such as being grateful that I live alone and have always had the freedom to convert dining tables, living rooms, etcetera into my creative spaces! I discovered decades ago that my art was just not going to happen on a consistent, approachable and enjoyable level if it had to get tucked back into a closet each time...so I made the decision then to convert other traditional living areas into full time art spaces. I like your "tray" method for storing tools however because of lack of space I store lots of my pens, pencils, crayons in cups and jars. We find ways to organize and work things out for our individual situations don't we? I love seeing other artists work spaces or studios. Thanks again for sharing your clean-up organizing day in your studio with all of us!😍 Sending much Aloha for a happy and joy filled weekend!💖🌺🙋‍♀️🥰🌈

This video looks like my own life, ah ah, my work space is even bigger and so much more chaotic, yet I could not accept anyone else´s help either, as I find tidying up actually pretty therapeutic...I always tell myself that my space is like a representation of my life, my mind and train of thoughts, and I´m the only one able of organizing it properly, no one can help me with this, they would just be standing in the way, so I love a good old rainy day, not caring about what time it is and just re-making myself at home, like preparing a new blank canvass for yet new work to come, new emotions, new adventures which will have plenty of space to happen once I take the trash out...I love your videos, thank you so much for sharing...I´m 47 myself and even if your videos have nothing to do with age, I have to say that as women we do not have many feminine "role models" our age, I don´t recognize myself in most anyway, not everyone is Patti Smith or Vivienne Westwood, no one ever showed me the way except for a very few exceptions I must say...so I´m really grateful for your videos, somehow they make me feel like it´s ok to be me...you influence me to shine and soften my needed cocooning days...English is not my mother tongue so I hope I still managed to convey what I wanted to say...Anyway, thanks for the trays tip...THIS is going to litterally change my mess...Have a lovely week end!! (Gwen here)

For those of us struggling with space, a trolley with wheels and shelves is a great way to have a little mobile art studio. Also we can use wall space and boxes we can tuck under a sofa or beor those plastic storage tubs that have tiny wheels and are easy to pull out. im using our coffee table as my tiny work space atm 😁

Thank you for the tip on making a little kit for those of us who have to unpack and pack it all up when we finish. That keeps me from creating and then I tend to get so far a way from it. To the shop I shall go for a sturdy art box-kit! Have an awesome evening! and Happy Lunar New Year! Love from Massachusetts

I’m in the same position. My studio and all six desks are in chaos. I’ve abandoned it since the rush of Xmas orders. It happens every year. I have a craft boom then I cannot clean up. It’s as if I’m so worn out I can’t face it. Hasn’t helped getting Covid again! It helps reading comments others go through the same. You’ve certainly inspired me to tidy up my studio space!

Good afternoon and thank you for being honest and sharing your studio!! Your video came up in my feed and I'm happy it did!! I've always truly admired people who are their true "authentic" selves and not, who "society" wants them to be or how they should live!! I love your space and your tips will help me greatly in my tiny studio!! Have a blessed day and just subscribed to your channel, looking forward to more of your videos!!❤️🥰🙏🏼

Love how you clean and organize!! I'm the same way, if I had a larger space I would fill it up very quickly!! I have to "edit" stuff all the time! I'm a collector of so many art supplies and other things and am utilizing small bins to wrangle items!! Thank you for sharing your journey with us!! Love the idea of trays like a drawer and also an art cart!!❤❤❤

Hi, Wendy! Oh my, your stacks remind me so much of the "dumping grounds" I have all over my own small workshop. Sigh. I love stuff. I am inspired by my stuff, so I try to just keep it to an organized chaos. I recently reached that point of being unable to create anything so I cleaned up and organized and I feel so happy with it...until I reach that point again. 😊❤ Love from Lynn in NC, USA

Excellent job! There must have been something in the air today, as I fully intended to ride my recumbant bike, but ended up pulling everything out of the home studio closet. As cleaning up all my "bits and bobs" as you say, time fly by. The end result had put my day in a positive light. I am happy to see how joyful you are in a more organized studio. x's, from the Land of Enchantment

I'm in the same place. I love to craft and sew. I've taken over a formal dining room. Who needs a formal dining room you only use twice a year. So I'm making it my sewing craft room. I'm in the process or reorganizing it. I have a lot of stuff in totes and instead of looking for what I had, It would be easier to buy another. So now I'm organizing si i can find it. And I'm also labeling little drawers. Haha

I had to leave a fairly large and well lit studio space recently ,and am now working in a corner of my kitchen. Its dark and cramped and the last place to feel inspired(between the range and fridge,if you can imagine.) A few days ago I put all my art supplies away in bins and simply quit ,Ive become too frustrated.Ill have to wait until I can afford to rent space or move out of here.I love your studio,so light and lovely!
