The Drunken Master! Despite having a bad record Emanuel Augustus was far from a mediocre journeyman and is now widely considered to be one of the most underrated boxers during his time. My last highlight of him was uploaded back in 2015 and I wanted to make a new one more focused on his defensive skill set so enjoy! www.patreon.com/haNZAgod

Damn, this takes me back to when I was a kid watching Manny Burton (at the time) on Friday night fights. Burton-Ward is in my top 5 fav fights ever. Thanks for this!

"I trained a guy that had sparred with him, then subsequently sparred a lot of rounds with Floyd. When Augustus learned that my friend was going to work with Mayweather, he showed him a couple things that he had done to disrupt Floyd's rhythm. When my friend was in the ring with Floyd he did one of the things Augustus had taught him. He told me that Mayweather stepped back laughing and said something to the effect of "he showed you that? That lovely gentleman is out there telling all my secrets." - From Someone I know

One of the most Underrated Defensive wizards in boxing. He got screwed over by the judges. His record fools the casual observer who doesn't know any better.
I'm so glad the newer generation of fans are showing the Drunken Master love thanks to the internet and being able to watch all of his insane highlights, I remember watching a fight of his on I think it was Friday Night Fights and was blown away by his skills and then he was robbed (as usual) then saw him again fighting Micky Ward which is one of the best fights I ever saw live. I'm glad he's not been forgotten. An absolute legend. Another great video Hanza 🥊

He's my all time favorite fighter. To this day he blows me away with his skills
I have infinite respect for the Drunken Master. He was once-in-forever. Shame he didn’t ever have a good coach & team.
Emmanuel Augustus, Mickey Ward, Kev Kelly, Troy Dorsey... this was my firsthand introduction to boxing as a kid. Nothing but great memories of watching these fighters when they were on TV, and playing Real Deal Holyfield boxing on the old Genesis when they weren't. Those USA Tuesday Night fights were great, too.
One of the most screwed over boxers of all time. Had skills of a world champion for sure. He knew he was getting screwed but he still did what he liked in the ring cause it was who he was. Quite a few years ago while homeless he was shot in the head by someone who shot a gun while arguing with a cousin not even close to where he was. He survived and despite some physical trouble is fine, and he works at a gym training others. He even has a Instagram in case anyone wants to check on him. He is I believe married and has step kids I believe. Do good to see things are working out for him.

Definitely one of the most unorthodox boxers of all times. There’s something about the rule breakers like Ali, Roy Jones Jr, Jersey Joe, Naz, Jorge Paez, Michael Spinks, Chris Eubank They all keep your attention with their style and creativity

The Drunken Master was acknowledged by Floyd Mayweather as his most difficult opponent. Emanuel Augustus was screwed over throughout his career by bias judges who didn't like his unconventional and unorthodox style. This man survived a gunshot to the head and that ended his career unfortunately, but we always have these highlight reels to go back to and see this fighting genius at work.

He got robbed far too often. Too bad he didn't have prime ggg power then his fights wouldn't have been in the judges hands.

He said toughest guy he fought. Not hardest opponent.
2:15-2:19 the master does a 360 mid fight then throws that vicious cross, and finishes with the Eddie Gordo dance to end the round. What a legend!!!
Honestly a mad man. One of my favourite fighters because of the way he fought, took on opponents in such little time and overall a fighter who’s record doesn’t reflect how good he really was. Victim of too many robberies and in one of his fights teddy atlas had to TEACH a referee how to score a bout.
Thank you for giving light to The Drunken Master. A true Baton Rouge boxing legend. I trained at 14th st long after his departure. They always told stories of Augustus. How he would come into the gym, turn on the music, then start sparring to the rhythm of the music. It’s unfortunate he came from such a small city that wasn’t big into boxing. If he had the right management he would’ve been a world champion for sure.
Thanks for the great video! Ivan "mighty" Robinson is another guy who ended up with a bad record and gets lost through the eras, but always entertained. Would love to see a video on him. Keep em coming
He’s definitely on the top ten best defensive professional boxer’s of all time
This edit made me smile, laugh and jump out of my chair! 🔥 🥊 🍻
He's WAAAAY better than what his record indicated.
best boxing videos on youtube. End of discussion.
always a joy to watch drunken master clips by far the most under appreciated entertainer in boxing
Glad to see my mans again on this channel 😏
One of my favourite boxers of all time. Thanks for this video!
Wow! This is by far the best Highlight video I've seen of Emmanuel Augustus!! Keep up the good work brother
Love how his punches are telegraphed he could just be doing his drunken dancing and then hit you with a two peice out of nowhere
1:05 he had super abilities... Great video
I wish he had been gifted with supreme one punch ko power so he could knock you out cold while dancing. There is this thai fighter that reminds me of Augustus with the show boating and striking. I think his name is senchai.
Great video
Splendid highlight
Who doesn’t love a Emanuel Augustus video, one of a kind style
Wonder how his coach took his antics ! 😀 One of my favourites.
Oh my god, that fight with Micky Ward!!! I actually prefer that slugfest over Ward's three fights with Gatti. Of course, I also remember that ridiculous scorecard where one judge basically gave every round to Micky, but still, it was the best fight of 2001 by far.
He really should have been a star. With a good manager/promoter behind him...the sky would have been the limit
Have massive respect for Augustus...unique, individual and special style. Love it.
Was so much fun to watch
Oh Hell Yeah! The greatest fighters sometimes have fun in there and make it look easy! RESPECt to Emanuel Augustus!
Fighting Augustus was like trying to fight one of those inflatable wacky arm wavers. He's like a living rubber band in the ring.
Nobody in boxing enjoyed the process as much as him. True master!
Truly one of a kind. He did for boxing what and 1 did for basketball, with that unpredictability factor.
When Floyd Mayweather says this guy gave him the hardest fight he ever had, you sure as hell know he's legit
WOW. That guy has great reactions. Incredible the defense. I'd rate offense is having a great defense so they can't score on you. Great video
One of my favorite fighters of all time, he heard the fight from another music....
My favorite boxer.

The drunken master was very fun to watch.

Augustus had a unique wild, crazy style of boxing lol. I think Floyd said it was one of his toughest fights.

Eastern European, Japanese and Central Asian are the only bastion left of fundamentally sound boxers today unfortunately.
I don't know why boxing promoter's hated him. He was so entertaining he would kick your ass and dance 😂 and also slip everything you throw back at him.
This dude gave Floyd hell. Augustus was a straight up demon in that fight, no matter what Floyd threw at him he kept coming for him.
I love the drunken master.

Augustus has a lot of great defensive sequences in almost all of his fights so to fit everything into a 4 minute highlight is almost impossible. I'm happy with what I've chosen and I think it's a good representation of his skill set
He frustrated Ray Oliveira so much that he quit.

Not exactly, that was Ray's last fight ever, he got a neck injury during his fight with Emanuel, and Emanuel refused to hit Ray to the head, but Ray never gave up or quit the ref or Dr. stopped it

This man got robbed so many times on score cards it's a shame. He gave young floyd a run for his money too.
🥃
prime example of some things you just can't teach
I wonder how different the world of boxing could have been if Augustus defeated Ward.
Only one other man could pull off these stunts Prince Naseem
Augustus was gifted, skilled and had a chin. He lacked a good manager, trainer and promoter. He was black fighting on the hot Mexican card. Giving all comers a run for their money but mostly on short notice and not scheduled or planned bouts of just fighting.
Airman👍
dude just couldn't help himself…he had to style on em….
Augustus the boxer your drunken style dancing boxing 🥊 is very unique my style is the cat style of fighting meaning absolute dynamic speed me and you got a lot in common he said you're famous and I've been behind the scenes
This was a bad dude
hey credit where credit is due.
Augustus the boxer I suggest you take that box of style and apply to some young kids so you'll learn it and young age that boxing style of drunken style dancing boxing is very unique and effective but it would take out of young age to develop and master

Love this guy, last i heard he had been shot, anyone know what happened to him? Think he should be around his mid forties so no longer capable of competing in high level boxing. Supposedly he was getting a documentary made about him but i haven't heard anything more of that either.

From what I've seen he's made a full recovery and is doing fine
If he had the right management team, was a big amateur name, dedicated to the sport and the judges gave him a break there is no telling what his record and legacy would have been.
Mayweather said he was one of his toughest fights...
@hanzagod

THE toughest!
This man got robbed more than a stagecoach in a western movie, smh
People need to stop saying this fighter got screwed because he actually screwed himself... he never had the goal to become champion because he was more content to sit around and smoke weed and play video games. Yes his defense was some of the best... but his offense was not that great and he lost around half of his fights.. Being entertaining and clowning around in the ring will not win you fights.. Wasted talent..!!

You must admit though that some of his key fights he should've got the decision in, I do agree that he didn't take his career seriously enough but the point people are making is that he was much better than his record indicated. When Floyd Mayweather says Augustus gave him his toughest fight, I think he should be at least respected and highlighted no?
Lol 3:39
He’s got to be the most robbed boxer in the history of the sport.
