The Drunken Master! Despite having a bad record Emanuel Augustus was far from a mediocre journeyman and is now widely considered to be one of the most underrated boxers during his time. My last highlight of him was uploaded back in 2015 and I wanted to make a new one more focused on his defensive skill set so enjoy! www.patreon.com/haNZAgod

"I trained a guy that had sparred with him, then subsequently sparred a lot of rounds with Floyd. When Augustus learned that my friend was going to work with Mayweather, he showed him a couple things that he had done to disrupt Floyd's rhythm. When my friend was in the ring with Floyd he did one of the things Augustus had taught him. He told me that Mayweather stepped back laughing and said something to the effect of "he showed you that? That lovely gentleman is out there telling all my secrets." - From Someone I know

I'm so glad the newer generation of fans are showing the Drunken Master love thanks to the internet and being able to watch all of his insane highlights, I remember watching a fight of his on I think it was Friday Night Fights and was blown away by his skills and then he was robbed (as usual) then saw him again fighting Micky Ward which is one of the best fights I ever saw live. I'm glad he's not been forgotten. An absolute legend. Another great video Hanza 🥊

Emmanuel Augustus, Mickey Ward, Kev Kelly, Troy Dorsey... this was my firsthand introduction to boxing as a kid. Nothing but great memories of watching these fighters when they were on TV, and playing Real Deal Holyfield boxing on the old Genesis when they weren't. Those USA Tuesday Night fights were great, too.

One of the most screwed over boxers of all time. Had skills of a world champion for sure. He knew he was getting screwed but he still did what he liked in the ring cause it was who he was. Quite a few years ago while homeless he was shot in the head by someone who shot a gun while arguing with a cousin not even close to where he was. He survived and despite some physical trouble is fine, and he works at a gym training others. He even has a Instagram in case anyone wants to check on him. He is I believe married and has step kids I believe. Do good to see things are working out for him.

The Drunken Master was acknowledged by Floyd Mayweather as his most difficult opponent. Emanuel Augustus was screwed over throughout his career by bias judges who didn't like his unconventional and unorthodox style. This man survived a gunshot to the head and that ended his career unfortunately, but we always have these highlight reels to go back to and see this fighting genius at work.

Honestly a mad man. One of my favourite fighters because of the way he fought, took on opponents in such little time and overall a fighter who’s record doesn’t reflect how good he really was. Victim of too many robberies and in one of his fights teddy atlas had to TEACH a referee how to score a bout.

Thank you for giving light to The Drunken Master. A true Baton Rouge boxing legend. I trained at 14th st long after his departure. They always told stories of Augustus. How he would come into the gym, turn on the music, then start sparring to the rhythm of the music. It’s unfortunate he came from such a small city that wasn’t big into boxing. If he had the right management he would’ve been a world champion for sure.
