World Horse Welfare Field Officer, Rachel Andrews was concerned about a group of ten horses being kept in apalling conditions on a yard in Winsford, Cheshire. They were removed from the site immediately and taken to World Horse Welfare's Penny Farm in Blackpool. This is the story of their rehabilitation and rehoming.
World Horse Welfare rehomes more horses than any other horse charity. Rehoming is more important to us now than ever before, with so many equines at risk, find out more here; bit.ly/orvMqA
Joseph, one of the young horses from the case has been picked to be the Penny Farm's Adopt a Horse - where you can follow his progress with updates from his groom, find out more here; bit.ly/c9J2BA

How could anyone give these wonderful people a thumbs down??? They do such wonderful work with these poor horses.
WHW you are ALL AWESOME!!! I wish I could get involved with your work, however I live in America and am also disabled. But I want to THANK YOU VERY MUCH for your work. What you do for these horses is AMAZING. I would break down and cry, but only after I beat the owners for a couple of days.
Lovely markings on those foals
These people do an amazing job.
I'm old, fixed income, poor health.... Over 6 decades of horse ownership off and on. So, I am in no position to help. But, my heart does go out to all of you and your horses. I know the feelings you describe, since I was blessed with the opportunity to live and train on a veterinarian's property. My vet's wife specialized in rescuing / rehabilitating 'problem' horses. I'm not sure your audience can appreciate the depth of knowledge needed to rescue and care for these animals. I think, though, that they can see the love that explodes in your hearts when you help these animals. It is the greatest feeling in the world. I also learned a thing or two about love along the way. It takes root and spreads like wildfire, if given a chance. It is also inexhaustible and contagious. Bravo and thank you, for what you do. The rewards are some of the greatest, but rewards "don't pay the bills.' Horses rack up immense bills. They are the land equivalent of a boat. (A hole in the water you try to fill with money) So, I encourage everyone in your audience to give, even if it is just a little....💲❤💉💲
beauties x x x thank you for saving these horses
TO SEE THESE WONDERFUL HORSES.....TRANSFORMED FROM SKELETTONS IN A VERY POOR CONDITION....; WARMED MY OLD HEART..... GOD BLESS THESE GOOD PEOPLE
These horses will soon bloom into amazing animals now that they are in your caring hands.
I think it's really great that horses get a chance of a second life and bought back to people who do care for them a lot
I wish in America that they were as hard on people. Owning animals is not a right, but a responsibility. I also like how you always own them, but allow people to loan them out for life. I like that control you have
Thank you for being the voices for these beautiful creatures!! 💕💯💖
I love the horses and the people who do this . I wish there were rescue organizations for people . Homeless people need this kind of care and love .....
"Whoever is righteous has regard for the life of his beast, but the mercy of the wicked is cruel. " Proverbs 12:10
I will never understand the rationale for these people to keep these animals in such disgraceful conditions. Thank you for getting them out of there.
You are all amazing. You do my heart good.
❤Thank you so for your Hope,Good Bless you all time of your Life❤
You DO NOT neglect a mare of 22 years old, who's in her golden years, ffs! These psychopaths who do this... [Worst thing is that they don't receive any real consequences (we need to fix that). BUT, however, there is karma... I love, love, love seeing how they recover. The horse at 6:47! 5:54! And the little foalies with their long legs... :)
I'm becoming a vet for big animals like horses and cattle even though I'm still pretty young and ride horses and still need to learn a LOT more about vet care I'm hoping to help animals in need

+Zoey124 Minecraft Just don't think about money, money, like some fools,..can't look after a animal if they don't have enough money, or they can't afford to,..It shouldn't matter, you do everything possible,..to help,.and do ur duty,.God will praise you in return,.
i live in Winsford Cheshire and i find this disgusting and embarrassing, how anyone can treat a horse this badly is beyond me. The owner wants to be ashamed of their-self! Your work is amazing there needs to be more people in the world like everyone who works for World Horse Welfare
It is truly amazing how you have been able to restore the health of these majestic horses who have been abandoned and neglected, your organization is truly a Godsend......
You are all amazing!!!!
I am so glad you guys are doing this wonderful thing. Horses are the most wonderfully spiritual animals, and so trusting of us. People abuse them, but there are so many wonderful people, like you, that can help to rebuild the trust. God bless you, and may you always be able to do the wonderful thing you do. If I lived in the UK, I'd be right with you. I'm 61, and I've worked with horses pretty much all my life. I've met some very sad cases, but loving these animals brings back their innate intelligence and beautifully trusting nature. They make me feel small as I've come to know them.
That bay tobiano in the background is so gorgeous oh my goodness 😍 I mean they all are but, that one!! Woah. Thank you for saving these babies, I really can’t thank you enough ❤️
Beautiful animals. Wonderful organization.
When she said they were from close to Winsford my heart dropped as I used to live there, thinking these horses were so close to where I’m originally from and thinking of their suffering honestly breaks me, I’m so happy they recovered so well
when they showed the ((after)) picture of the mare. tears stung my eyes! i couldn't help it! what a group of magnificent creatures! (and for the first time, i actually mean the human creatures!) bravo bravo!
God Bless You all.
You people are amaaazing ❣️❣️❣️
Wonderful job of bringing these horses around..........
Amazing and continued dedicated work by WHW. Thank you. Even though this situation was 6 yrs ago, the visual effect and education provided by watching the videos from WHW is so important. As a Horse owner for over 35 yrs, it is still truly shocking to see how a sub-set of people can allow their animal management to become so grossly neglectful. It is a shocking eye-opener sadly.
4:55 that horse is adorable
What a fabulous very sound animal welfare group! Full of experienced caring people who know how to bring a horse around.
Very impressive work!
I mean, everything is bad, but her hooves made me gasp. Poor baby ❤
omg poor horses if i would see anyting like that i would cry and take good care of them poor horses :'(
Wonderful work you do. Godspeed
How could people have disliked this video? That is just plain mean if you did. If you did your saying that you didn't like the recovery of horse? Rude...
Bravo to your wonderful work saving these beautiful creatures!! Thank you!!💜
Brilliant! Thank you WHW- you give me hope. They all look so happy!
Thank you for saving these majestic animals 💜
You people are amazing!! Thank you for all the wonderful work!!
Thank ❤️💕 you for all that u do
Rachel and the horse 🐎 are beautiful beautiful 🙏.
God Bless You all for the amazing work that you do! I can not believe the before/after views of these poor, unfortunate horses. You have truly changed their lives...and saved their lives! I wish every mistreated animal would have the same chance. Keep up the great work :-)!!
God bless you all for doing such a wonderful job =) Please keep it up.
Another job very well done. You guys do amazing work and it is lovely to see the improvement in all the horses.
Why cant people that let horses suffer be put in jail. Should lock them all up.

hey you guys are great keep it up. the world needs more action on horses care.thanks
So sad, why on earth would people keep horses if they clearly can't care for them. However now they look amazing, well done.
Thank you so much for taking care of these horses! :-)
Such an inspiration =) God Bless you all
WOW! You guys do AMAZING work!
Wow! All of you are amazing and wonderful.
Born2beloved1 yeah I would LOVE to work there to!
What IS IT with all this abuse of horses in England?! It's unbelievable.
Fantastic work
This is what Australia needs ..
Amazing!!
it's really a amazing I wish that maybe someday I can adopt all
I love horses sad peaple don't care for horses
I hate to see neglected ponies just breaks my heart :_(
You are doing such an amazing job with these horses! they are all looking so well now:) sorry for my bad english:D i am from germany;)
bless the horses and the rescuers. the perpetrators...karma awaits.
Great video!!
Omfg! I really look up too you guys! I take my hat off to you! It is just amazing what a bit of TLC can do!
Wow😢
well done
Omg Joseph looks just like a horse that I know called Eric but Eric is piebald not skewbald (sorry don't know how to spell) I hope they all have a loving family home and that they are never put in that position ever again
A lovely result for these ponies. I live in USA. In this area we don’t have the assistance of animal help groups for farm animals. Only cats or dogs. That is something for which I am unhappy. Keep dong the good work. Maybe we can catch up with your kindness.

Barbara, you are wrong. There are a number of organizations in the USA that rescue farm animals. The SPCA - Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals rescues farm animals so does VetRanch in Texas. There are many, many more!
I really like that :-)
You do a wonderful job and I wish I could help. My question is, and I mean no disrespect, why do people where hard hats while holding these horses? The horses look far too weak to be dangerous.
One that are caring for the horses, you never talk too them or showing them compatio
People out there in this world who think they get away with neglecting these horses thing wrong it makes me sick the way they do think its ok to just keep on neglecting them they get to this stage !! !!!!
who even gives a thumb down on such a video
it's a great thing that you can adopt one these horses after being checked that you can look after them here in Australia they would rather kill them unless you can buy them for the costs of vets fee's and charges from the rspca which stops alot horses from being re-homed with people who could care for them quite well otherwise hey
Would absolutely love to know what happens to Oalof!! I am in the U.S. , or would be inquiring about adopting him!! I doubt you adopt to other countries.
Why are some of the girls wearing helmets?
Some of their hooves looked like toes!
Denmark they Dont get old,
Why are people not thinking
can you tech? cus wen im older I want to work for you. I love horses!
this for the horses owners who cannot take care of their horses. the minutes you know you stopped being able to care for the horses call someone who can adopt them instead of putting the animals in such crucial critical situation
angles
who would want to do this to animals treat others the way you want to be treated
how do you find homes for them and do you donate so you can get them out faster so you can get new ones in?
there are dislikes because ?
what is a loan home? do you not own these horses when you adopt them? am confused
Don't people realize that if they neglect ANY type of animal that it will eventually get confiscated?
Are horses supposed to shed?
Do you guys accept interns? Recently graduated vet student here from Mexico
poor thing.
what country is that in

England.
Hope the owner was prosecuted.
So sad how cruel people can be.. I’m at least glad this neglector is banned from owning any animals again.
Why wasn’t the owner of the horses made to pay for their care....
What does gelded mean please? Thank you.

I really appreciate you guys saving all these horses but I have one question that really bothers me as when your workers are working with these horses why in God's name do they need to wear helmet in my book so you don't need to wear a helmet if they're just doctoring and maintaining these horses riding is one thing I guess you want to do that but personally I don't think you need to wear the helmets
Long terms,. Underweight,??? Damaged organs ????
I've never seen lice on horses.
