Elvis Presley got down on his knees and prayed that God guide and inspire him when he recorded his "How Great Thou Art" album tracks I 1966 and told his friends that if one person in the world would give their life to Jesus Christ as Saviour then his/their efforts would be award enough. Elvis Presley always wanted to be a gospel artist more than anything else in the world.

Life can sure be painful. Don't know how people make it without God. Elvis loved God and people. Like Billy Graham said once, on a talk show, since he knew Elvis, when they asked him if he thought Elvis was saved and he said that he knows Elvis is singing to the angels. :)

I love this duet too. I remember watching an interview with Lisa a few years ago. She was asked about growing up at Graceland and her memories of her childhood .She said being there with her father were the happiest memories of her life. She said she always knew and felt her fathers love for her. She felt his presence while recording this song and the experience left not only her but the production crew in tears. She is in my thoughts often and May the love they share for each other give her comfort and strength all the days of her life.💞

Thanks Dani for reacting to this special song! It's the best of the duets she has done 'with' her dad imho. As you said, her voice is very powerful and fits perfect to his in this song. She later told in an interview, that it was very hard for her to sing 'with' him, especially one of his gospelsongs. She had to stop a few times because she started crying. Absolutly understandable in my eyes! And as you already mentioned, it's hard to watch all these sweet pictures, because we know what's going to happen. To him, to her and to her beloved son. It's totally heartbreaking! 💔 Goose bumps and tears .........!

It is so sad that he cannot put his arms around her and comfort her in the places she has been in her life. And he would be so proud at the ways that she is just like him. From facial features to her musical talent and those beautiful grandchildren that she gave him, especially his grandson, who was Elvis made over. Thanks for the way you know how to touch our hearts as you do your reactions. This has always been one of my longtime favorite songs.

As lisa gets older you can see her mother in her as well. Lisa is a sweet girl i love her so much. Great reaction Dani loved your reaction very much Elvis was the best friend i ever had in my entire life. we met when i was 17 yrs old. I won a radio show contest and the prize was a day with Elvis but our friendship lasted past that one day in time. All the memories of my friend are tucked safe in my heart forever. dancing and singing breaks my heart because i know he is not here anymore my mind understands but my heart never will, i saw him a few weeks before he passed we had a short conversation, which i will never share again because people are so nasty and comment hurtful heart breaking things they do not know me but they still can't keep their mouths closed about things they know nothing about. I walk past Graceland everyday without fail. Love from Memphis Tn..

@Dani Atkinson It`s really interesting listening to your thoughts that are the same as mine. When I heard that Benjamin died, I felt as if a part of Elvis was dying all over again. I had to struggle with my grief and anger when I realized how close Elvis and Lisa have always been to death. Elvis lost so many young people in his short life and with Lisa, it is very similar. I`ve also learned that many family members on Gladys`s side died very young. This duet is so much more than just a song... Thank you, dear Dani.

I don't think there were any signs or red flags popping up as far as could tell about her son Benjamin. It was told he simply couldn't handle the pressures of the Presley family name where his Grandpa Elvis was concerned. I guess he crushed under the pressure. Lisa Marie from where I read was Inconsolable and completely devastated. And I can only imagine her loss. I remember the loss I felt at only 13 when seeing my father laying in his casket. You're numb in your heart and soul and all over. You're like comatose.

Not fair that anyone should end up in the vacuum that Elvis did. Idolised, no matter how sick he got or how sloppy his performances , ending up like a recluse behind the Graceland gates. Jackie Gleason told Elvis in the 50’s, «don’t hide, or you’ll end up as the loneliest guy in the world». How true did those words end up being. Elvis was basically confined to his tour schedule, other than being at Graceland. All normalcy were foreign to him. Crazy to think that almost all the musicians in his band toured Europe and other parts of the globe, while Elvis kept on doing Vegas and endless US tours. Yes, I know the sacred myth about the devious Colonel being an illegal immigrant, thereby not wanting to go abroad for fear of not being able to return. I sincerely think that the old man would have absolutely zero problems in fixing the necessary papers for him to take care of that. We’ll never know. Elvis would have made insane amounts of cash touring the world, a thousand times more than being made to appear two times a day for a month in Vegas.

You are right. Elvis was offered one mill. dollars by promoters in Europe to do a one hour concert. That was his pay, all other expenses paid by the promoters....that means all costs, band pay, hotel, airfare.etc. That was 1971 dollars when the minimum wage was around $2.00/hr.

Back in the 70's, when Elvis was taking prescription drugs, he trusted the information he had access to and thought he'd be okay. As for his grandson, none of us knew him or what he dealt with. I feel very sorry for him and his family and the devastating loss. I'm not a "fan" of Elvis. I admire him, his talent, his charity. I can't judge any of them.

Actually, his megacolon killed him. Elvis was a sick man medically speaking.

I somewhat agree with the things you said Andrew Andreas, but there's a thing called compassion...You might try using it for people. None of us are perfect and we all make mistakes in life. Elvis, his grandson Benjamin and others have paid dearly for the mistakes they made...They paid with their very lives. But thank God that Jesus Christ paid for our sins...Because He did , we all can be made clean again of our sins and our mistakes...Forgiveness and compassion is what it's all about, Andrew.

Amen🙏! That is how I feel, too, but many people who love both cannot accept that some of us don't care for Lisa's singing.

I never cared for her albums, but this duet with her father is not bad. She can carry a tune, but she is not a singer.

I wouldn’t say she has a great voice overall, she’s usually very monotone. In this song she actually sang in more of a higher sweet spot of her voice and it sounded so much nicer!

I really don’t enjoy it when Lisa Marie sings on these Elvis songs, I don’t think their voices compliment each other in any way…
