Very cool, same tour as when he hit Alpine, TX just a day or two earlier (February 10th). Last November, I visited the Alpine HS Gym EP and the boys played at! And spent the night at the local motel they supposedly stayed in.

Great video! I love when these structures are pretty much untouched and you can really get the feel of how Elvis, Scotty and Bill must have felt when they where there. But I can't help to think that on their way to Roswell, Elvis starting to talk about the 1947 UFO crash. I can just hear them discussing that topic.

I've been an Elvis fan for quite a long time. I used to live about 60 miles from Carlsbad and visited there many times. I had no idea Elvis played there. I had an English teacher in high school who told me she had gotten a flat, I believe on the way back from Lubbock Texas. She pulled over to the side of the road and shortly after that she said a vehicle pulled up to help. I remember how excited she was when she was telling me about it. She told me it was Elvis that got out and helped her with the flat. She said that he sang a little bit of a song to her and then gave her a picture. She was supposed to bring it in and show me but never did. Have no idea when that event happened. I'm curious if maybe it was around the same time he was touring Lubbock, Carlsbad etc.

My sons Dad graduated in 1959 in Hobbs New Mexico. He had a lot of motorcycles and had an Indian motorcycle he had parked on turner st in Hobbs. He said Elvis came walking up and was just admiring his bike. They talked for a minute and they both went on. I was thinking about it and wanted to research it. Guess Elvis was there during that time.

I heard that in these days, SCOTTY was taking care of the managers job and doing all of these Bookings. HOW the heck did he find all of these little towns and Gigs I wonder. Scotty must have spent HOURS on long-distance phone calls to set all of this up. :) I booked my own band while stationed in Germany in the Army and that job AINT for sissies. LOL T'anks (Hey I was also stationed at Ray Barracks in Elvis' SAME unit. 1980-1983---->1/32 Armor )
