I love all his gospel songs. No one can sing them like Elvis Presley.

I wish Elvis had recorded this song in RCA Studio B with the Jordanaires , Floyd Cramer , and the rest of those wonderful A-Team musicians .

Elvis feels his gospel, his vocals raw and sincere .

I like this more than most of Elvis' studio productions. Shows his raw passion for music here and it's beautiful.

After so much struggle in my spiritual life, this song has brought tears to my eyes...

Awesome song! I think he loved Gospel songs partly because when he sang them they brought him back to his childhood and happy moments with his Mother. I love to listen him singing Gospel because you just can feel that strong emotion in his voice. It is more than just singing.

The song: "I asked the Lord", I remember so,...many years ago. Well,.. An now Elvis is in Heaven with The Lord Jesus!.. Sorry , this was recorded at his rental house in 1959 while he was in the Army in Germany .

jeff hall Incorrect. Elvis would often sing gospel songs before a performance and he could well have sung this before the Ed Sullivan show but this song was only recorded when he was in the army in Germany on a home cassette recorder. In the Doccie " Elvis '56 in The beginning" they play the song with a still of Elvis in the 50's playing the piano.This gives the impression it was recorded then.

Nice... No studio tricks... Raw untrained voice and raw piano.... When elvis became polished n seasoned it ruined his music.
