This guitar was actually a prop with no strings, and Elvis is lip singing to his own recording. What we are actually watching here is a screen test for a movie studio. Elvis Presley was born in Tupelo Mississippi and moved to Memphis Tennessee as a young teen. Although Elvis owned homes in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles and Palm Springs, he always returned to Graceland, his Memphis mansion where he is now laid to rest.

He could play guitar, piano, bass and toyed around with drums, accordion, ukulele. He played the bass in "Baby i don't care" from the movie Jailhouse Rock. He couldn't read or write music, but felt it as you could see. He was born in Tupelo Mississippi and later he and his parents moved to Memphis Tennessee. Yes, he was drafted for two years and stationed in Germany. Elvis was very concerned, if his fans would still like him after duch a long time. Loved your reaction!☀️💚 Do anything you want to do, but don't forget Elvis. 😅 Please! The short documentary " Elvis and the black community" might be interesting for you.

Born in Tupelo, MS. I believe in his teen years his family moved to Memphis where they lived in low income housing. Eventually he bought Graceland and it is still the 2nd most visited house in the US after the White House. And yes he was in the military. He was already famous when he was drafted to the Army and served 2 years. There's great footage of him being sworn in, getting his army haircut etc. Plus a great post Army interview. Thanks for this Elvis reaction. WE❤U ELVIS.

He was shocking for that time in the 50's. Glitter didn't exist then. Elvis was born in a poor black neighborhood in Tupelo Mississippi. Moved to Memphis when he was 13 and moved into low income housing. He was so poor and wanted to get his mom and dad out of poverty. This was a test for a movie studio. Thanks for this great reaction. Be blessed

This was just 2 months after his first RCA a record, Heartbreak Hotel was released. This is a try out for a movie career and contract, which he aced. If you notice the guitar has no strings, and was just done to see how he’d look on camera. I suggest you check out his 1956 performances on Ed Sullivan show, Sept 9th, Oct 28 th 1956 and or Jan 6, 1956. Elvis did 31 movies, and completed 4 of them before they drafted him into the Army in 1958. Check out his song and dance scene from his 3rd movie Jailhouse Rock, of his song Jailhouse Rock. Many consider that the first music video and it was 1957 when he was 22 yrs old.

Elvis was from Tupelo, Mississippi, where his very poor parents & him, lived in a poor Black community, until he was 14, then they moved to Memphis, for more job opportunities. Elvis is doing a test for a movie in this video. He does play acoustic guitar, but he’s not playing it here, as the guitar is just a prop. He also played piano, & bass guitar. From 1960 to 1968, Elvis was Hollywood’s highest paid actor, & he made 30 movies during the time, plus three other movies he had made before he was drafted into the army in 1958. Then he made a comeback into live concert performances, until his death in 1977, but he was a very sick man from 1974/75, up to his death. He was still doing live concerts during that time, with the last being in June 1977, & he died 16th August 1977. Gone but Never forgotten.

The solo guitar part was actually his guy Scotty Moore playing. Elvis could definitely play, but he was more of a rhythm player than a shredder or soloist.😮 All the very early songs were Elvis on acoustic guitar, Scotty on electric guitar and Bill Black on the stand-up or sometimes called the "slap" bass. Drummer JD Fontana was added about a year or so into Elvis' career.

Elvis blew up the radio then and is still the King today. I am old and remember the first televisions only played black and white. It was great when color came out in the early to mid sixties. Check out 'Are you lonesome tonight' 'Heartbreak Hotel', 'Don't be cruel', and there are hundreds of Elvis songs.. ' His latest Flame', 'An American Trilogy' and on and on.

NOW you really should watch the version from his '68 Comeback Special in his 2 piece black leather suit at kzread.info/dash/bejne/c59praebmZu0kcY.html -- it is the longer version from sitting to standing center stage with a GORGEOUS & FUN finish -- it's Elvis unleashed, doing what he did best & shouldn't be overlooked. ELVIS & HIS NERVES: Producer-director of the Special, Steve Binder, related a little story regarding the '68 special which took place in the dressing room right before Elvis was due to go on: Elvis was extremely nervous and he told Binder that he didn't know any of the songs, he forgot all the words, & wasn't going out there, & Binder said "I don't care if you walk out, just say hello & then walk off, but you ARE going out." And out he came. This version here was colorized. The original b&w was used by Paramount Studios as a screen test to see how he would look on film.

@@rong805 Thx so much. Links are important. Firstly, there are multiple versions of almost every song he did -- some live, some just recorded; there are also bad quality videos & great quality; & how is a reactor supposed to know what to look for, especially if they're new to Elvis' world. I never understood people who say do this song, you have to see this song & never put the link in. If they know about the song they must have seen it & know what the link is. Thx again.

This wasn’t in color. This was dubbed in stereo and in color many years later. Elvis served in the army two years overseas in Germany during the height of his career. He had no special privileges. He was a tank driver, and he was born in Tupelo, Mississippi, and in his teenage years, moved over to the projects in Memphis, Tennessee. You should react to welcome Hom Elvis his interview when he came back from the army he literally was drafted at the height of his career and didn’t know when he came back if he had a career to come back to very courageous, he was a typical soldier like every other soldier with no special privileges.

I think this song is from 1960. His original 1956 version is more dynamic . This is deff from the q960 GI blues movie . You hear it on the juke box. The video is 56 movie screen test but it's been over budded by the 60s version of blue suede shoes . He was born in Tupelo mississipi then moved to Memphis when he was 14 I think . He got drafted into the army in 58 at the hight of his career for 2 years

She is correct, he was in the army. He met his wife when he was in the army, in Germany. I remember when this was first seen on TV. They would only show his upper body, because that 'hip' action was not fit to be seen by the public, especially children. By the way, this was originally in black & white.
