Elvis interview; February 25, 1970 - Houston, Texas

Музыка

The press conference Elvis held upon arrival in Houston on February 25th, 1970 at the Airport Terminal.
He flew to Houston almost straight from his one-month stay in Vegas as he was one of the acts on the "Livestock Show & Rodeo" held at the massive Astrodome stadium and took the stage in a short three-day "engagement" from February 27 - March 1 (two shows a day).

You can tell how how face looked flushed the tired look of him has to do with fatigue, along with the use of Amphetamines dude to his twitching, and a Variety of anxiety and barbiturates dude so good lazy eyes, yes that can happen because of tiredness not not like this because he hardly does that which is my view thats he is on an assortment of Amphetamines and Sedatives possibly even Demerall.. He looks like he is really struggling and that their pumping him full of drugs so selfish parker could pay his gambling debts. So he often didn't sleep for days and just had plains and appearance without giving him time to sleep so they started giving him these meds

Elvis looks so tired, exhausted, and so sad to see. I definitely believe people around him, family, manager, friends and associates should have done a better job of taking care of Elvis. Unfortunately when big money, fame and allure of endless cash is involved, blinders come up with selfishness.

Elvis was beautiful inside and out. He had such al charismatic aura about him whether on stage performing on as in this interview. Poor Elvis, his eyes look exhausted in this interview. Throughout his entire career, Colonel Parker worked Elvis to the ground especially during the last years of his life when he was contracted to work 2 shows in Vegas, 7 days a week for years. In the end, Elvis was worn out. He will always be the King of Rockn Roll tp me.

Cool comment from Cory Wells. Many many people from the industry said the same thing he said. Hear that time again throughout the years. Mexican American actor/ musician Trini Lopez said in interview "Elvis was the nicest person I ever met. Wished more people in the industry were like him". Hell of compliment. Whenever I think of 3 Dog Night I always think of that great song "Never Been To Spain" that both their band & Elvis also recorded. Always liked their version, but Elvis live version he did on stage was really something. He & his band really ramped it up. Can hear the soul in EPs voice in NBTS.

I thought it was odd that an entertainer of Elvis magnitude never had this show filmed professionally. Elvis' manager wanted to make money and Elvis made films, but important concerts such as the first concert outside Vegas in the return period at Houston wasn't filmed, neither New York or the first 69 Vegas show or others in the 70s, real shame a missed opportunity. Other performers were quick to perform world tours too. The Colonel wasn't the best to Elvis.

You know, Elvis talks about his films being sub par but they weren't. I've been really enjoying clips of them lately, I really need to buy them all. The main thing I feel about some of them was that sometimes there were such high numbers of people in the film that it took away from him. Like in Spinout, the dancing girls are so overdramatic. And there are soooo many! His dancing is sooooo much groovier, but we don't get to see him in them enough (some of the movies) though that all depends on which movie. Just my opinion. Gee, the Col. touted "his boy" so much in live shows he made him perform to death, but in those movies he didn't do him justice. Boo Col. Boo!

So cool. Man I would have loved to see him and Gram Parsons collaborate on something (though he really didn't do that) given them both being southern gentlemen and love for gospel/country/r and b. Ironically I think Elvis was critical of illicit drugs. A shame they both had untimely deaths.
