I am 54 years old and Elvis was my first love in music. My son knows this because I have told him many times how great he was. I took my son (14 years old) to this movie and at the end my son told me he didn't realize how OG Elvis was. He loved the movie and am I so grateful that Elvis was portrayed by such a dedicated actor. Thank you Austin Butler.

@@thesenate7710definitely not, the first line is heavily austin, you can tell because there’s certain parts where the tone is off and it doesn’t sound too much like Elvis, Baz said he mixed Austin’s vocals with Elvis’s for some of the 70’s, just very lightly so there’s not much of Austin which is a shame considering he recorded every song and damaged his vocal cords singing unchained melody and we never got to hear it, considering unchained melody is the only other song not mixed with austin, the other is if i can dream, they’re both purely Elvis

I know. The academy lost their integrity a long time ago. Not only did they rob Austin of the oscarche so truly deserved. The movie was nominated for 8 awards and was shut out. They even gave hair and makeup award to the Whale. Just goes to show that Elvis is still being disrespected so many years later. Hecwas one if this century best and greatest entertainers. I know Austin won alot of awards worldwide for his performance but he was robbed of the Oscar that he did give the once in a lifetime Oscar performance. I agree 💯 percent. I thought that the performance Brendan did was the best acting he had done out of his work but it wasn't the best performance of the year no that belonged to Austin. I was so surprised how amazing his performance was. Especially when u honestly look at everything he had to do. 1st anytime u are portraying someone Especially a person who is so wodwode known as Elvis that is really hugh shoes to fill. He played Elvis from teenage to his death at 42. He danced, played instruments, sang, and did every stag performance he actually did full stage performances cause Baz did not know what parts in was going to use for the film. I have seen many people throughout the years play Elvis and the only 1 I have ever thought did a great job was Kurt Russel in a TV movie Elvis from 1979 and he didn't actually sing in the movie Rodney Mc Dowell did but the performance was great and when I saw Austin in the film I was amazed. I was impressed how much he dedicated himself to the role. When Denzel Washington reached out to Baz to let him know that this guy who would be auditioning for the role that Austin's work ethic was 2nd to none that he had ever worked with. He did not lie. Thanks for your feedback and insight

Austin won with international voters: Foreign Press Golden Globe, UK BAFTA, Irish IFTA International Category, Catalonia Sant Jordi, Australia AACTA International, South African Online Film Critics Austin was named to the Top 100 Influential People in the World by Time Magazine, again showing Fraser's comeback and "Me Too" story means nothing from an international perspective when considering acting performance. Minus the fat suit we've seen Fraser's performance a million times and will again. His dramatics are no better than Austin's away from Elvis specifics, such as when Gladys dies, Priscilla leaves and when he screams at Parker on stage and yelling at Parker and Vernon in the hotel lobby and suite. Oscars are agenda based on lifetime achievement and comeback narrative and American voters in general lean this way, not to mention the obstacle they create for those in their first lead role, which is why Austin won 13 Breakthrough Performance awards from other U.S. bodies. Here's a list of Austin's wins as lead Actor: The Hollywood Foreign Press/Golden Globe (Best Performance in a Motion Picture -Drama) The British Academy of Film and Televison (Best Leading Actor) The Australian Academy of Cinema and Televison International (Best Lead Actor) The Irish Film and Television Academy (Best International Actor) AACTA Domestic version (Best Lead Actor) South African Online Film Critics (Best Actor) Sunset Circle Awards (Best Actor) International Press Academy/Satellite Award (Best Actor in a Motion Picture - Comedy or Musical) People's Choice (Drama Movie Star of 2022) The Minnesota Film Critics Alliance (Best Actor) Sant Jordi Award (Best Actor in a Foreign Film) CinEuphoria Best Actor - International Competition

There's only a very few times in biopics where someone plays a character and we as the audience look and do not see the actor but instead purely see the character. In Downfall, Bruno Ganz plays Adolf Hitler and every time I watch that film, it's like I am literally watching real Hitler footage. And in Elvis, seeing scenes like this, it's like I am literally seeing the real Elvis.

Yes and to think he was robbed out of the Oscar he so truly deserved. Yes he won countless awards world wide for the performance. He even won best international performance of the year. Heck the movie it self was nominated for 8 and was shut out and didn't even win 1. Not even hair and make up they gave that award to the Whale too. The academy has been jaded for a long time. I have seen alot of people play Elvis throughout the years and the only 1 I thought who did a great job was Kurt Russell in the 1979 TV movie Elvis and he dud a great job. He didn't do his own singing in it Rodney Mc Dowell sang the songs but his overall performance was the best until I saw the 2022 Elvis. I wax blown away how much of an amazing job Austin did. He even did all the singing in the early years and then in the later performances they blended Elvis and Austin voices. Plys he played instruments, danced and he did full on concert performances in each of the stage scenes. Baz had him do full on concerts because he was not sure which he was going to use for the movie. So yes an Oscar performance but was robbed of it. I am sure it had Elvis seal of approval from above.

Still it's only a movie....so many important things are missing ... doing such a movie they should tell the truth ..... Parker never said to Elvis 'ARE YOU READY TO FLY?" ... nor did Elvis cry on the stairs of Graceland when Beaulieu left Him.....I wish He could tell us how it really was ❤

It's not a documentary. I'm pretty sure Doja Cat wasn't playing either, they make decisions and change things for dramatic purposes. The real test is that Priscilla and Lis Marie both felt it was true to the spirit of Elvis.
