So true Duff! I saw him and Bloomfield play East West with Butter in 1966-67 and it was a great show. Truly innovative music. Elvin is truly one of the great American guitarists. He always puts on a good show.

El came into Brassy's nightclub cocoa beach fl.one night in the 90's a bit late and on crutches. I said, nope no show tonight... well I'm tellin' you he played his ass off sitting in a metal folding chair. Talk about go break a leg, dedication and all that.. Man that cat played no stint, no holdin' back long and hard. What a performer!

Saw Elvin in 2016. He made a rare tour stop in the northeast. Great great show. Sat 2nd row center stage. Only downer was we were nearly killed in a head on on the way home. We survived and recovered though. First time I saw him was at the Music Inn in Lenox MA way back in 1974. He was touring the Let It Flow album. He opened for the Marshall Tucker Band. Both bands got on stage and jammed together for a long time. It was wild.

Elvin Bishop has already made it - looks or no looks. Elvin was rockin' with the best of them when most of the rest of us were in diapers, and he still is. Rock-on Elvin. For the edification of those who don’t want to wait until the closing credits but still want to know what songs were played by Elvin Bishop and his fine band, here they are: STEALIN’ WATERMELONS HONEST I DO BEER DRINKIN’ WOMAN WALK RIGHT IN (sung by Daddy Ray) L-BO FANNIE MAE This gig was aired in 1991 on Japanese television, and the viewers there were introduced to a bouillabaisse of blues, rock and roll, country, and even a little bit of jazz. In other words, Elvin Bishop music.

I'd love to know the approximate date on this. Only (almost) once saw the Elvin Bishop Band live. In 1983, I was staying overnight with friends in the village. Walked over to the Lone Star Cafe. Bishop's band was laying it down, but I was broke. Stood outside the fire door in the winter cold for at least an hour, loving every minute. This incarnation of his lineup sounds most like the band I heard that night. So funky!

Last time I saw The Elvin Bishop Group was at the Fillmore East in March 1971. Great Show!!! Jo Baker was singing with Elvin and the background vocals were The Pointer Sisters. The Bill was shared with Johnny Winter And. The Allman Bros were the headliners. Elvin was supposed to do a whole set with the Allmans but there was a bomb scare and "we" all had to leave the auditorium. When we came back in and got seated Elvin came out and explained that Johnny Winter demanded to go on so Elvin called out Duane and Dickey and the three of them jammed some blues. A truly memorable show. Too bad Johnny Winter acted like such an asshole. The Allmans played till the sun came up. I went home wishing Elvin's Show hadn't been shortened. I had the pleasure of seeing Paul Butterfield at the Fillmore East so Elvin was no stranger to me.
