Mickey Thomas on vocals who also sang with Jefferson Starship/Starship. Elvin is the dude in brown playing the guitar! The Midnight Special show had so many great performances. You should look into all the groups who performed!💜💜

And the amazing woman singing next to Mickey is Reni Slais. She's sang with the best around.
There was no auto tune or filters back then, real talent shines through.
Thanks, 70s were the best times to be alive. Enjoy your youth and good looks, growing old takes a lot of courage
Elvin Bishop is the guitarist, who used to be in the Paul Butterfield Blues Band, a Rock Hall inductee. The lead singer is great, he was in Jefferson Starship - and his vocal in their song "Jane" kicks ass if you want to see more of this singer. (1979)
Mickey Thomas was a background singer for this band. Elvin B. Wrote the song and ask Micky to do the vocals. Amazing start for Mickey.
Listen to Jefferson Starship doing Jane Mickey on vocals.
Sometimes i forgot how great we had it. Midnight Special, Don Kirshners Rock Concert, Saturday mornings with american bandstand and Soul Train, dang we had it good
Yeah thats Mickey singing that not Elvin. Elvin did the guitar solo.
Elvin Bishop was one of the founding members of the pioneering blues/jazz/folk-rock Paul Butterfield Blues Band in 1963 in Chicago...he's paid his dues...
Micky Thomas the pride of Cairo Georgia.

I could see and feel the south in that boy!Who's the girl singing with him-shes Too much!
Starship still plays every year at Disney Epcot, Orlando, Florida, for the flower power concert series in the spring and the food festival eat to the beat concert series in the fall far as I know.
As a former 60s and 70s singer/musician, back in the day. It was real music played on actual musical instruments by humans for humans to swing, sway, dance, stomp and shout. A human artistic endeavor for human expression of personal emotions.
I actually lived through this hit and I loved it! Yes, my age is showing, but to have this music in my memories is worth it. You are a mere babe Anthony. I love these oldies/classics you've been doing.
70's ruled! I was so lucky to grow up then!
Mickey was Elvin’s backup vocalist but took over this track, Elvin is the Sheriff guitarist.
Some of the best music ever made was between 1970 and 1980, Mickey Thomas has one the best voices from that era.

Ummmmmerr yep probably
Elvin is still doing his thing!
Saw Elvin Bishop live in 1978 it was awesome! Thanks for bringing up the memories!❤️🔥❤️🔥✌🏻🫶🏻
Oh, to be 28 again !! I was 10 years out of HS when this came out !! Great reaction, to a great song.
The Midnight Special through the 70s was 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Everyone who was anyone in music was on that show. Look up the list of guests. From Chuck Berry to Bowie to Prince to Kiss and everything between, all live. And Mickey Thomas still has one of the best voices out there.
That backup singer puts me in mnd of Helen Reddy.
Just watched a video of Elvin playing the guitar left handed...... It sounded great. He must be real talented to be able to do that. I didnt hear a missed note.
I saw Elvin when he was playing guitar for the Paul Butterfield Blues Band at the Monterey Pop Festival. Butterfield is well worth a look- he was one of the greatest blues harmonica players and vocalists ever!!!! There’s footage from Monterey, too! ❤
I grew up on Classic Rock/Folk rock so this is my jam! You should do more old school shit!!
I remember this one.✌️
You need to listen to the studio version as well! His vocals are absolute FIRE!!! And the guitar solo is freaking awesome!!! No autotune here!!

Notice their mic tech, Elvin played almost every small juke joint club on the west coast, they controlled their own mic volumes perfectly
Elvin Bishop wrote the song but didn't think his gravelly voice suited the so ng so he had backup singer sing it.
I was lucky to see Elvin and Mickey do this in concert in Tulsa,Oklahoma in either '76 or '77.Elvin wrote a great song and let Mickey sing it,wise decision.Elvin does sing on most of his songs.Reni Slais did a great job on vocals on this as well.
Mickey Thomas is in his mid 70s not 80,married and lives in Las Vegas now retired

He was taking about Elvin Bishop being 80,not Thomas.
❄️❄️❄️💧🎼💧❄️❄️❄️. Oh yeahhhh .. that is Mixkey Thomas on vocals.. just saying this song. I love singing this song .. thanks so much for the step into groovy 70s .. this is a hot one!! Great post, love it !! 🦾🦾🦾🔥🦾🦾🦾 you better sing .. Mickey !!!
Elvin Bishop is the man wearing the brown Suit and badge, playing lead
Thank you and the one who requested this . Just found new favorite's song. I really love this song.
I remember listening to him back in the day when I was 11or 12, He had a great voice
Mikey is the man! (You know by now, that was Mickey Thomas belting out those bad-boy lyrics that Elvin B. wrote and played guitar on.) 🌷🌷 Love this performance!! 💙💙 Glad you liked it. 💪
Nice reaction It's a cool song and clip That era also gave us Steve Miller Band "The Joker" another cool hit!
Are you beginning to understand why we "boomers" are so critical of today's pop music?
Loved it as a small child then & loved when it hit the charts again in the original Guardians of the Galaxy soundtrack. Their Awesome Mix I & II from the first two movies are the best of the 70’s.
Best review of Fooled Around and Fell in Love on the net!!!!!!!!!!
I was 7 when this came out. I loved it and used to stay up and watch the Midnight Special every weekend. ✌❤
I lived it. Oh, the memories.
I remember every single song you mentioned Anthony. Love 🧡 music man

😂😂😂 so did I, amazingly!
I was born in 1967.. before color TV this was a go to in the 70s.. this and 10 CC, ambrosia, Little River band.
50 years ago all the musical genres were rollin' and tumblin' all night long..
Omg, I can't believe music I grew up to, is now old school rock ....lololol...help me I'm old!!!!!!
Always loved this song! I remember when it came out.
Yep we had "little black books" in which we kept the numbers of our favorites. Say what you want about boomers, we had a blast!
This is one those go grab a cutie and slow dance songs🧡
The lead singer is Mickey Thomas
it's the denim jumpsuit for me!
I was graduating eighth-grade when the song came out. I remember dancing to it at our graduation dance. I should say standing against the wall watching Everybody Dance cuz that's boys were afraid LOL but when I fell in love and
The guitarists badge put me in mind of a band I love as well Bad Company. Now they was fire in their hat days too🔥🔥🤘
Saw em at six flags over Ga in 1976 with Jefferson Starship. Elaine is the guitar player.
that was a good one, yea I seen it on TV live.. nothing like it now
When this was a huge hit, everyone (including the radio stations) thought it was actually Elvin Bishop singing.... the Radio DJ's should have made it known to the music listeners that the singer was actually Mickey Thomas, even though it's released as 'Elvin Bishop'.... unless of course the DJ's themselves were fooled too.
New here. Loved the reaction. I can tell you connect well with the history of good music. Also, nice watch. Timeless Casio Classic.
THAT is Elvin Bishop on the red guitar!😂
Great reaction a old one lol I rember this like yesterday I miss the 70's
Should also listen to acoustic version of this covered by Morgan James
Carry on wayward's son by kansas was epic

I remember this song coming out. How old am I?
That was the band Kansas!!! Now think that this was written for the Vietnam Vets who came back with horrible PTSD. Register it. Pay attention to the cord changes, the anger, the confusion, and the mental illness the music alone conveys. Then, think of the message. " Carry on my wayward son. There will be peace when you are done(dead?). Lay your weary head to rest. Don't you cry no more". Jesus, how powerful this song is.
I came by your channel by mistake! You have a new subscriber! I like your channel!
I know you like Haley, there is an appearance of Haley Reinhart, Myles Kennedy of Alter Bridge, and Slash of Guns and Roses covering "Wild Horses" by the Rolling Stones.
I’m now 52. You are a baby. But I still feel 28 in my head. The body just doesn’t. Lol
❤️🔥❤️🔥
LP lost on you live will blow your mind.
Great pick Skip!
You should hear Mickey sing Jane from Starship!!!!
MICKEY THOMAS was the incredible singer. Elvin Bishop was the guitarist and name of the band. Mickey Thomas was such a great singer.
Mickeys' a bad mf hahaha for real
Actually its rhe great Mickey Thomas on lead, Elvin played the incredibly mean guitar. Mickey is one of the greatest singers ever. Went to Jefferson Starship shared the lead with Marty Balinn, many very good songs Hes still performing at age 73, no doubt worth seeing in concert. I saw a recent performance he was spot on singing yet. Best of success on yr channel. Ill subscribe 4 times on my four channels.
The solo guitarist is ELVIN BISHOP! MICKEY THOMAS NEVER GOT CREDIT FOR THIS MASSIVE HIT!
Sigh, Elvin Bishop is a guitar player, primarily.
KANSAS, CARRY ON MY WAYWARD SON
No autotune
Speaking of age perspective, I would be starting kindergarten in that year.
Alvin Bishop is the guitar player
Memories...Time travel??? LOL...Loping around a dance floor in 7th Grade, 1975ish and kissing a girl who, I think had eaten cabbage for dinner... A perfect example of Quaalude / Cocaine state on the 1970is stage.... I suspect that the female back up singer and Micky Thomas had...well, 'fooled around and fallen in love'... Anyway..Elvin Bishop is the lead guitarist....Writer and guitarist... He (Elvin) realized he could not hit the notes of his own song...looked to his best back up vocalist...Mickey Thomas.....There you go. Friend...if you EVER see Elvin BIshop on tour..pfff....travel to see him....for real....
It'd not Elvin Bishop for the millionth time! It's MICKEY THOMAS; lead singer. Elvin asked MICKEY to sing it. Elvin did the guitar only!!!!!!
Carry on My Wayward Son has Steve Walsh singing lead, and while he is not as crystal clear as Mickey Thomas (the singer on this song), he is another one of those power singers with an excellent voice who enunciates clearly like Mickey does.
Kansas
Hey Pal! It's NOT ELVIN! ITS MICKEY THOMAS!
You don't expect a guy in a jumpsuit to sing like that. Effortless too like singing live is nothing.
You should react to Dorothy Moore song Misty Blue
Hi, I was just wondering if you'd react to the new songs by V ☺️
Hey, those clothes were in style. Boy does that suck. Peace
It is time traveling.
Sadly, you missed out on wonderful, non-auto tune talent from back in the day. Too much of today’s musical pap is immediately forgettable.
Also, the original studio version is WAY better.
