One of the best things to happen in music history was when Elton and Bernie crossed paths.
One of my favorite things about the music they write together is the diversity. Bernie has such a vivid imagination and doesn't have to only write love songs or anything else. They've had such a fantastic career together
I love this story. Bernie Taupin is my favorite lyricist. Imagine if they had never met?
Probably the best Elton interview I’ve seen.
Never seen a boring interview with Elton. Elvis Costello interviewed him and played with him on his show and it was incredible.
I love Elton. I just started his book yesterday. Great interview, as usual, Howard!
Howard, this was such a compelling interview. Fantastic.
Omfg I literally have been waiting a year for Stern to interview Elton John!!!
Sir freakin Elton. To me, he’s as legendary as Mozart and Chopin.

Well, idk about that, but he’s goddamn great.

He's a genius, no doubt.

He's more like a modern version. Maybe in 200-300 years, he'll be up there with them. Right now, he's still a living legend

I grew up with Elton and Bernie's songs. I love them.. And Elton may even be a certified genius. But in music, Mozart is comparable to Isaac Newton. Chopin is comparable to Albert Einstein. And everyone else is a distant third.
Rock n roll music in all its forms is at its best through collaborations.
This is awesomely awesome!
Great questions.
Thanks Howard!
Wow Elton you are so awesome. Cheers James.
This is such a GREAT clip! Goddamnitbabyilovethateltonjohnsomuchimonlygonnatellyouonetiiiimeahhhyeah! [VH reference]. The songwriting process for Elton and Bernie is different then other interviews I've listened to about Lennon/McCartney and Jaggar/Richards. Some of these 'Howard' interviews, and some obviously not. Just a great clip to anyone who is a music lover or singer/songwriter. To the Howard Stern Show editing crew, putting these clips together, a big 'well done!' I don't know if you read these things or not? But you do a great job and it's noticed and appreciated, thank you!!!!! - RT
Sir Elton John ♡♡♡
I love elton so much!!!
“It happened to be Bernie.”
Nice interview
He looks pretty good for being in his early 70s
A genius.
Another great interview
Awesome. Good work Howard and Elton. History.
Thank you!
🍻Elton. 👏
this is awesome!!!!
Absolutely riveting.
He lets the lyric write the melody, how Socratic of him.
Howard is a great interviewer.
Good on the survivors of that era of rockstar.
The lyric is his muse
absolute legend. interesting guy. couldn't figure him out, but who cares. that's Elton John. wow
If there really are multiple universes, think how insane it is, that this is the one were these two met.
That was 👍
Elton is also describing his own talent. A dirge sounds like a dirge. A lullaby sounds like a lullaby. Sounds easy but I don't think it is given the mismatch of melody to lyrics so often. How many times have you found out what a song is about and been flabbergasted? Not with Elton.
Great thing having not wanting all the pie and working with lyricists.
New album coming out?

An anthology.
I think 🤔 if elton john took up the electric guitar 🎸 the industry would excasperate,
Fairly sure thats wade in the water and not smoke on the water 😂
Did he say put your sweet lips a little closer to the bone ? Just a joke, don't get worked up.
