What Elon doesn't understand is that people are pigs. They leave a mess in whatever car they ride. I would not want to rent my own car to the public and have it come back as a smelly mess.

Elon can say it over and over and over, and that does not make it true or valid. A computer cannot drive a car as well as a competent driver. You can program it from now til hell freezes over, but unless on a particular designated course, like a freeway, it cannot be programmed to 'think' its way out of a new situation. As a driver for 60 years, I know how quickly such situations happen, and some geek in an office cannot program enough info to handle such circumstances.
