Interesting review and interprtation of "ELON's" mind. Starlink may play an needed role. Most of the Tesla Superchargers have a Starlink antenna connection which allows Tesla to gather data on vehicles at the station to be paird with the enroute data from each vehicle to most effectively use the charging capacity while keeping the NACS users moving down the road. A recent KZread video shows how Waymo manages its fleet to in from storage depots which may work for a limited geo-fenced area. Tesla will need to manage the location data of all its fleets effectively both individuals vehicles and robo taxis across a wider geography. Starlink is a potential solution. I would imagine somewhere in Tesla-1 computers all of this is being prgrammed for Robo Taxi and may be revealed on 8/8. Thanks for the discusion. Liked the forum.

It would be an extraordinary demonstration if the bot came out on stage and replicated the dance that was performed when the bot was initially announced. BTW, I agree with Nic’s view that a basic repertoire of standard functions being included with the bot that the owner/user can build on to customize the bot for the intended applications. Similar to buying a software package with specific libraries of functions for its use. Also, it would be interesting if Tesla chose to demonstrate a bot driving an arbitrary vehicle without any self-driving capabilities, even an ICE vehicle. And, no problem to tell that Nic is an engineer. He carefully listens to Elon to make sure he really understands the exact understanding. This is standard fare for engineering problem solving - try to understand as much as you can about exactly what is needed. In this case what is needed is an exact understanding of Elon said to fully understand what was meant - speculative interpretations are avoided.

37:03. Using Optimus as a show-n-tell toy for conventions is not an "application," nor is the broader category of novelty item, and it's definitely not a "lot of applications." I think the lowest hanging fruit (real application) would have been some sort of pick and place operation. Which the Optimus 2 hardware would have been up for doing, but probably not at a price point that would make sense for companies, and the software stack might not yet robustly support that application either. The thing is the ROI has to out perform regular labor, and O2 may simply not have been there, or was there so marginally that it didn't make sense to go to scale.

He could present what Analysts want to see or it could be a engineers presentation of just a RoboTaxi pump that flops with the Analysts. I agree that Optimus is looking easier than FSD/Robotaxi. As incredible as FSD has gotten, it still makes really idiotic moves. Even tho I use it during 95% of my driving, it still makes me nervous. I'm on 12.3.6 and a few weeks ago it tried a move similar to something v11 did to me on a road trip a couple years ago. It tried to get over into a small highways turn off lane onto some small farm road. For god knows what reason, FSD thinks it should get into this 200ft lane at 60+ mph. This CAN NOT F'ING HAPPEN EVER!!!! It would have ran off the road had I not been ready to take over. At the speed it was going, what would have happened when the right tires went from pavement to dirt? Whatever you do, don't freaking trust FSD fully. Keep your hands ready and pay attention. It doesn't matter if its amazing if even rarely it makes some nutty move. In mathematical terms, it will do this sort of thing to someone every single day. Honestly, as much as I'm looking forward to no nag, I'm afraid its going to lead to something bad as people who trust FSD too much relax too much. Optimus on the other hand, it can make mistakes in a warehouse/factory. It won't be a big deal. Watch it walk into a wall, no problem. It's not going fast enough to harm anything.

Tesla is so efficient and innovative the company can grow at amazing rates never before possible (with NO debt) in smokestack industries such as Detroit. Ol’ Bill should buy and drive a Tesla as a step in the right direction to learn something new. In particular he should drive FSD and begin to learn how this really works.

So let’s get this straight. By driving a Tesla that will determine the fate of the company? Because was a bond man, that doesn’t make him a stupid investor. Got a lot more wisdom than someone who was in nappies in the tech wreck. That was 1999,2000 for those nappy millennials. Tesla has $3B in debt after being surplus in 2022. Why? Because they’re bleeding cash flow. Negative $2.51B in the March quarter and I suspect worse in the June quarter as margins were compressed and sales in key markets were substantially down. China was down 25% !! That’s a huge drop in sales. Slaughtered by local competition. Sales don’t mean jack $hit if there are much lower margins per sale. Tesla is not the icon you think it is and the market is saying that in spades..

OK. Predictions for Tesla in China. I could give you a breakdown as an economist, a financial planner, a manufacturer and a global strategist. I'll save you some time. 😁 Tesla is going to license their FSD system to any Chinese car company that wants to incorporate FSD into their vehicles. Specifically, Tesla will provide the FSD software, the FSD hardware, and probably the cameras and wiring unless they can find a supplier of cameras and cabling that meets the most stringent standards Tesla demands. Why? China is building its auto industry into the best of the best, because they want to launch globally. China has single-handedly pulled Africa out of poverty and is now doing the same for South America. Robotaxis are the future of the world, particularly in countries where people can't afford cars, trucks, etc. The US doesn't manufacture anything any more. Right now, China has the ability to build robotaxis, but they don't have the hardware/software architecture. None of the Chinese efforts are anywhere near 12.4.X competence.

Oh the assumptions. Assumption the technology will be successful, assumption that Musk will continue to be the magic man. (Talk about a love in with the guy). Assumption that he will never sell his quad zillion amount of stock (as if). Assumption that earnings will be not far away (make that many years). Assumption assumption assumption. That’s the problem with this company. All of the gobble gobble is based on presumption. No mention of expenditure etc How about having a balanced approach rather just a sellathon. Plenty of technology has sounded good in theory but totally impractical in practice. Robots ‘running’ around the house doing chores for instance. As if… Dreamboat Annie stuff and you believe all of this Musk BS. Free market but you’re leading many new investors down the wrong path instilling hope in new tech without a full appreciation of what’s required. Funding for a start. Let’s have a talk about specifics, time frames etc just not the same ramble discussion. Of course you can’t because there’s no details apart from ‘Trust me’ comments and lots of adventurous spiel from Musk.
