I too can speak in character and maintain a cute calm composure! And you know why? It’s all because I own five REALLLLLY cute tops AND they look AMAZINGGGGG on me! When in doubt put others first and don’t be selfish but maintain ownership over those five cute tops!! Elmo for the win! Also have you been to that hot new cafe downtown? The one everybody’s talking about? I thought their mochas were decent but boy oh boy their cappuccino was top notch!! It tasted even better because as I sipped it I was wearing my second favorite cute top! See how that works??? I invite you to join me for a latte but don’t bother showing up if you’re not wearing a cute top. Call me the cute top police I guess but it’s just so essential. That’s actually one reason why Elmo is less iconic than he could have been, because he’s not wearing any tops at all! Imagine if he wore a cute top he’d be the president by now. He’s amazing with tops on I just feel it!! So how about that latte on Saturday? Let’s do it!!!!

A lot of people who grew up watching and loving Elmo are adults now. I'm 24 and I was very much an Elmo obsessed kid. I still really like Elmo, he reminds me of the kids I work with and they love him too. Hearing, what I know is just a puppet at the end of the day, say "We all have lots of emotions and it's ok to talk about." still made me tear up and hit that inner child in me. I think a lot of the replies were genuine, I don't think everyone was just trolling or dunking on Elmo. A lot of people don't have anyone in their life who checks in on them so seeing this sweet childhood comfort character ask just stuck a cord. Like he said "It's important to check in on your friends." and maybe check in on strangers too. You never know who needs to hear that.

@@user-se7rd6cm6qok boomer Look when you’re having a hard time, “finding god” isn’t always the answer. Talking to someone, either a friend or a therapist, can be very helpful. And maybe it can redirect you to god, but just saying “oh talk to god” to someone going through it is very dismissive. It’s why church attendance is lacking nowadays. And you know what, good. I don’t think god would be too happy with Christians right now. Also if we addressed issues like poverty and the messed up healthcare system head on, maybe we would have less issues, eh? Does Love thy neighbor as yourself only apply to the upper middle class? Please leave your own swollen head for a second and put yourself in someone else’s shoes.

I just turned 42 back in November, and still Elmo is 3 1/2 years old. I guess it’s true that some of us just don’t grow up, and for Elmo that’s just fine. But on to Elmo’s tweet, I thinking it’s wonderful that he wanted to know how folks are doing. It’s hard out here in these streets. I wish I could say that things in my life are fine, but they aren’t. However, I have really wonderful people in my life just like Elmo. Thanks for making me smile today,Elmo. I needed it. We love you, Elmo. And Happy Early Birthday!!

Between this and that SNL sketch, I’m convinced that not only am I not the only one who feels not OK… everyone else is muddling through life in their own way, trying their best to focus on the good and bury the bad. It’s also strange how, in this hyper-connected world, I feel more alone and weird than ever. But in some way or other, just about everyone is struggling.
