Elmina, which the local Fante refer to as Edina, is a town and the capital of the Komenda/Edina/Eguafo/Abirem District on Ghana's west coast. It is located on an Atlantic Ocean bay, 12 kilometres (71⁄2 miles) west of Cape Coast.
