I can definitely relate to that! I used to like black a lot and dressed very goth, and I stopped when my depression got much worse because I didn't even have the energy to think about what to wear, and people somehow thought that I got better instead? And years later I found out that a lot of people I talk to now were actually straight up afraid of me because of how I dressed? Like they told me "Oh I used to be so scared of you, you looked so mean and intimidating in your black clothes and spiky jewellery." and it honestly hurt a lot because I never thought that I looked intimidating? Like I have crazy social anxiety and I always thought that it had to be very visible.

If we're speaking technically then, pink doesn't actually exist. It doesn't appear on the UV scale and on the Rainbow. Only very vibrant hues of neon purple do. Our brain just makes up the color pink because it needs something to feel in the gap.

The scene where she's just sitting in the shower and looks as if her whole family was brutally murdered in front of her goes hard. As someone who suffers from Bipolar Disorder, that is exactly what a depressive episode looks like when trying to take a shower. Usually involves cranking the heat to max, still feeling cold, and then having the shower fill with steam until it makes you lightheaded, sleepy, and even more depressed. Mental illness is not a joke, it's not just a 'phase', and the happiest seeming people, are usually trying not to cry at any given moment.

Off topic but as a painter I see a pink room and run away in fear because it’s a bitch and a half to paint over.

I wish we had artists that dressed and looked like this when I was young. Seeing someone with my body type and jawline fucking KILLING IT would have done so much for my body dysmorphia. I'm so glad the new generation has such beautiful variations of body shapes and looks in the media to look to. Not only is this girl clearly talented, but she is unapologetically her and it's such a breath of fresh air.

Not flaunt it, but just love myself. And apparently that was wrong. Apparently I was self centered for loving how I looked and people brought me down to the point I not only hated myself I gave up on myself. It took me so long to rebuild that lost confidence and honestly this whole song is the last two years of high school summed up to me. Thank you for this.

Don't let people bring you down for that and it's also pretty sad that people always have to judge others i also find myself judging people without really knowing them and i hate it. People are probably gonna judge me for saying this though but i admit it i judge people too and i get mad at myself sometimes for doing it. But people complain about everything if you don't love yourself they say hey but you're perfect u don't even have reasons to hate yourself u r probably just saying that for attention and if u love yourself they will be like oh you're so self centred and stuff you are so selfish ... It's ok we're all human and we all make mistakes maybe they didn't mean too hurt u but anyway love yourself because u have the right and u should Stay strong

If someone loved their selves when they were supposedly "ugly" people would root them on and tell them it's good to always love yourself no matter what. But if someone genuinely good-looking loves their selves it's considered "self--centered." What the actual HECK??? You have every right to love yourself, and as long as you weren't flexing on people who have less "looks," you are completely fine, and should feel sorry for the stereo-typical people who did this to you, because they need help.

How people dress doesn’t reflect how you feel. If your sad that dosent mean that you have to wear dark and depressive colors, wearing pastels is perfectly fine. Love this, way too fucking real, I surround myself in color (particularly pink) dolls, art, I drink from a pink LOL Surprise cup, when it’s dark at night and I’m scared I tell myself if I have something colorful on me the monsters can’t touch me, I grasp onto anything colorful to stare at to distract me from the shit that festers in my head, I feel pink, always have and always will, I can’t tell if I choose it or if it’s just me

Dear Elliot,I’m a young listener of yours and I’m currently obsessing over this song,the more I listened to this song I realized how much people that wear J-Fashion or something different than what “normal people” wear struggle when they go outside,they get people taking photos/recording them,calling them freaks for dressing differently,misunderstanding those people based off of what they wear,I’ve been convincing my parents to buy me pastel clothing and Lolita dresses and this song explained what was coming,I’m nervous that I’ll get judged but happy that I at least get to wear what I like for once,so right now I’m a supporter of people who dress in a very extreme/different way soon to be experienced 💕
