    Strikes to the back are perfectly legal in Muay Thai. You hit what you see, difference is, most fighters don’t normally let you see their back for obvious reasons. Wasn’t a clinch break but even so, I can’t say I’ve ever seen another fighter turn their back whether it’s a break or not, rookie mistake and the price was paid.

    The punch with Parr's mouthguard out and kicking her in the back when she clearly thought the ref had broken the clinch was fair average, but that is the fight game. Onto the next one

    At no point did the ref stop the clinch. Both girls released and jazzy decided to walk away. The ref did nothing wrong. It happens.

    She didn't give up though, didn't take the count, turned her back which is a rookie mistake but at the same time she's a solid fighter, a few more years will tighten her game up is all, just a few more years :]

    Good fight. Barker was smothering very well, and Parr got careless when she thought there was a break, though an intentional straight to the back of the head is unwarranted. Fighters in that situation go for hooks instead of straights, so they can land damage and still keep it clean, which surprises me that she didn't even get a warning for that because it didn't land in transition. They'll definitely cross paths again, both are extremely talented and will only get better. Thank you for the content, definitely subscribing!

    She didn't get careless. She assumed that the ref had seperated them which is a fair assumption after breaking from a clinch and when the ref saw that Jazzy was walking away, back turned to Ellie, he decided it'd be a bright fucking idea to let the fight continue instead of being a normal ref and stepping between them.

  • @candycheese3251

    @@a_stone I meant careless as in fully turning her back and assuming the ref was going for the break, which is one of those rare occasions when "protect yourself at all times" comes into play. I actually fully agree with you, something I stressed in another comment was how the ref put up his hands when they separated (which any seasoned fighter would assume is a break) and also the fact that he was extremely close to them (again, one could assume it's a break, which it should be if the ref is basically a few centimeters away from the fighters), and then he lowered his hands once Barker went at Parr, seemed confused and just started an 8 count.

  • @a_stone

    @a_stone

    @@candycheese3251 It's not a careless move as she was seperating from a clinch and normal procedure is to wait for the ref to restart the fight.

    You can also see the ref raise is hands as if he was going to make a break and stopped once Barker started to go towards Parr. A great fight which had some slight homecooking because the uploader is addressing anything related to the good content or anything about Parr's throw (which she shouldn't do), but anything concerning Barker is being completely ignored, which kind of makes you wonder.

  • @SiamBoxing

    Gloves were introduced to reduce damage to the head and the like and its more sporting in terms of competition. But get a kick from a muay thai fighter it out powers a punch!. Its just you dont see many kicks to the head in comparison to punches to the head so the gloves protect the head from brain trauma more. Muay Thai is a very tough sport.

  • 4 жыл бұрын

    @@SiamBoxing gloves INCREASE the damage to the head. They reduce the damage to the hands allowing fighters to throw much harder punches. They also increase the weight meaning the strikes have more power. This means gloves INCREASE traumatic brain injury.

    Gloves actually increase the chance of concussive force. They are to protect the hands not the head. They say headgear is also harmful too for that reason and it is to prevent cuts and scarring.
