About how if ellen didn't come out in the time she did and still keep her head held high a lot of openly gay men and woman wouldn of had the courage to come out and be proud of who they are. With respect, it's disappointing that a lot of people's first thoughts focus on what the WORST case scenarios are from being gay or coming out? It's a very negative mindset that does no good and only widens the divide and focuses on their being two sides, instead of focusing on the fact that their is growing acceptance generation by generation. I'm only 35, but when i was young being gay was NOT tolerated and ridiculed, but I have seen that change VASTLY for the better in only 10-15 years and it continues to improve day by day. FACT. Anyone thinking it is getting worse is either fooling themselves, naive or likes to retain an US AND THEM mentality. Ellen Page is fantastic btw

Jes Ter With respect, to deny that there is a very strong effect on a high profile actor/actresses career from issues of sexuality and 'coming out' would be a bigger disappointment. It is very likely that this could affect Page's career, for better OR worse. The hope of course is that it is nothing but better. Sadly this is not always the case, and ignoring it for a fairytale land version of reality where this doesn't ever matter isn't going to help the problem go away.
