I'm in my 30s and started studying improv at UCB about 9 months ago. I had a complex about learning such an amazing skill at this stage in my life (that I recently decided I need to get over) and Ellaraino's story about her greatgrandmother just put it all in perspective! I love you Amy Poehler that much more for introducing me to this amazing woman and her inspiring stories.

Wow. I've always had this memory of being in like 2nd or 3rd grade and we had one day when all the story tellers came and it was SO COOL and I remember one lady was dressed in African dress. For all I now it was her. My memories of it are pretty vague but I do know that it was really powerful and I was never the same.

First time I saw a smart girls video and right away a fan, such honest and raw conversation with women that really have lived and have something important to say! Congrats

For sure! I am inspired to tell stories myself. Actually... If you want to feature somebody. My mother is a Substitute for LA Unified. She is so beloved that when scandals happened she was one of the chosen ones to go in and replace teachers being investigated. I think that substitutes don't get the recognition they deserve because well people in one school don't see them that often on a regular basis. I tell you she is one Smart Lady!
