Jazz + Autumn = Heaven

Louis and Ella together made magic. Each could sing alone or with others, but together, these two artists were heavently. Glad I grew up during their time. My favorite way of listening is with my eyes closed.

One of my oldest dreams is to be in New York, go for a run or a walk in central park in the prime of the autumn listening to Ella and Louis Autumn in New York. Would somehow feel like a Woody Allen movie moment.

Guess what, there is a movie by Woody Allen like that called "A Rainy Day in New York" featuring Timothée Chalamet and Selena Gomez. I loved it, though people said it was boring and bad.

Yes. I took photos today in Central Park. It was a beautiful day too. A good vibe. I like the colors of the trees 🌳 and bushes. I saw very few older people walking in the park.

Not that age matters.... but I lucked out when a teacher had me do a report on Satchmo when I was in the 4th grade. I've been in love with his music and most other Jazz ever since. 25 years later I must say I still come back to these classics over todays jazz.

Ella just has one of those voices that you wanna wrap yourself in... It's so warm and sweet

Well spoken. I agree. Would also like to hear Charles Lloyd with Tom Grant do Autumn in New York. A great saxophone combined with a remarkable pianist. Not sure when recorded.

Umma Balasundram It’s a deeply sad song actually. It’s a lie. Don’t get me wrong, it is euphonious, ethereal and beautiful but it is celebrating spiritual darkness on a deeper esoteric level. But I’m an obscure, anonymous commentator and you likely won’t believe what I am really saying to you..

My teacher showed us this for a poem and I decided to listen to it for myself and its a beautiful song ❤

Sad that today is a beautiful autumn in NY and we’re all living in the craziest and scariest time in over a century. Yet hearing Ella and Louis brings back memories of true beauty and what will be in the future. Two of the absolute best entertainers ever!

Autumn In New York was written by Vernon Duke and this starts out in Dm7 Moderate Slow Ballad= 70, Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong are fantastic . Ella Fitzgerald ex husband Ray Brown bassist is the bassist on this recording session. They were married from 1947 - 1953 ( married 7 years) and 1 adopted son Ray Brown Jr . But they remain friends until her death June 15,1996. Ray Brown is the greatest Jazz bassist ever lived, he died in July 2, 2002. He died 7 years after her death.

Louis is just incredible!

How elegantly Fitzgerald leads back to the original key after the modulation for Armstrong’s themes... just love it! She could do strong things moving so little🌹

Truly Mesmerizing straight legendary status of two of the Greatest Ever!!!

There's no way to walking on the Central Park in Autumn and don't remember that song! Great Ella and Louis.

2 of my favorite performers, singing one of my fave jazz pieces ever - this is heaven, folks!

When i get old, I'll be Dancing to this song with my husband. Atleast i hope. Couse if you catch me doing it, Id be doing it all night.

What a majestic voice, such tones, such mellowness and sweetness, such power that of Ella's voice. And Louis needs no presentation, his rsapy voice and his trumpet, in which he plays no music, but pure feelings. This is the best your ears can have.

Listening to this on a warm summer evening, but I don't care. Yeah, it is kind of a shame that "the young" (I count myself among them) are pretty much abandoning this music for other stuff. But that's how it has gone for ages. People abandoned classical music much the same way. But it is still there, and so will timeless classics like this song survive in the hearts of those who do listen to this.

Pam I think he meant Louis , Ray and most of the greatest black musicians and entertainers that ever lived was STUCK in jim crow segregation era , which they were. Many had success, but not as much as they wanted , in alot of cases their music wasn't heard on radio stations unless they were sung by white singers
