Her speaking voice is just as lovely as her singing voice.

That is an EXCELLENT point! Never thought about it before, but you're absolutely correct. Smooth as velvet. Blessed to hear this version with her introducing the song.

Her voice! Speaking or singing, you're in a great big caress. What a heart.
She always shined the most in a live setting. My favorite singer ❤
No one can touch her. No one can approach her. The greatest female singer of all recorded time. Probably the greatest damn singer, period. All bow down (take that, Beyonce)! 👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑

She is such a gift to the world
Welll... its Christmas Eve (day) 2023, and I happened upon this and "That Man of Mine". As a kid growing up, there was always music in our house. My Dad was always playing the harmonicq and jamming on the piano, My brothers would get out their spoons and have so much fun carrying on with my Dad. (my mom sang, had a beautiful voice, but was shy). My Dad had us performing doing barber shop quartet I(we'd complain about having to do it, but I miss it now). I guess what I want to say is "thank you" for the music you placed here. I came across this when I was really missing my Mom and Dad and those "times" that arr so precious. Have a wonderful holiday 2023 and again, thank you so much!
Just like a smooth clarinet - wonderful
Ella ! reminds me of my Dad - one of his favourites !! I can see why - fantastic Miss you Dad
The Great and Untouchable Ella Fitzgerald
One of the greatest from that era, the incomparable Ella.
I find it hard to believe Ella would have thought Walter Winchell anything close to dear? But he was so powerful she'd have to acknowledge him. Very interesting to hear that little bit of banter. I think this is from the club that never booked black performers until Marilyn Monroe promised to book a table in front every night if they booked Ella Fitzgerald.

Disgusting that would have been shocking even back then, even worse to contemplate that prejudice these days.
She was a great singer and a legend

Oh, man - that's gorgeous! 'Twelve Nights In Hollywood, Volume 4' recorded June 29-30 1962, Crescendo Club, Hollywood, Los Angeles. ♥ Ella Fitzgerald - vocals ∩ Paul Smith - piano ∩ Wilfred Middlebrooks - double bass ∩ Stan Levey - drums ∩
Pure beauty, Love and blues
The best of the best of the best ever.
Oh, I would’ve loved to have been there!!!
A certain feeling, no words for that one. Emmanuel from Paris, she's the greatest, no doubt on it. Emmanuel

Oh, that voice.
Ella.. Queen of jazz
In 1924 only Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue was more popular than this Jones and Kahn song and both are finally in the public domain as of January, 2020 (although this recording could still be copyright protected). Actually there were many hit songs created in Chicago in 1924 including the first boogie woogie song and the first hit to be promoted by radio, It Ain't Goin' Rain No Mo'. ¡ UNA VOZ EXTRAORDINARIA CON EXTREMA CALIDEZ Y DULZURA !

When Johnny Carson asked Peggy Lee who was her favorite singer, she quickly replied, "Besides Ella"

Walter Winchell was a huge SOB!
Just pictures.
Walter Winchell was always at war with somebody, hence the marching music when he was introduced. Professionally, Ella had one equal, Sinatra. Unless everyone's lying, Ella was a lovely, sweet person. Sinatra, not so much.
