Steve! What an amazing episode of Elk Camp! I absolutely LOVE to hear ll those bugles sounding off all around you guys. I've been watching all your videos lately and really enjoy the content you produce! Thank you! When I'm watching, I notice you're using a lot of cow calls and a decoy. What would you say is your ratio between cow calls and bugles? And what situations do you tend to use each call type? I've been hunting my whole life, and I'm always learning and looking for more wisdom! Thanks again for the great videos!!

Thanks for watching! Basically when I am calling to herd bulls I am using bugling when I am super close to them and their herd. With the satellite bulls, I am cow calling them in. So it's all dependent on whether I am dealing with a herd bull or satellite bull.

@@ElkCampTV Thank you! Thats very insightful! I really appreciate your help and wisdom! Ive had lots of success calling bulls in with a bugle, but I haven't played around with cow calling too much. But I am excited to give that a try the next time I'm dealing with a satellite bull. Thanks Steve!

Nice bull, great calling and good setup. What type of ammo did he use in the CVA? Also hard to tell on video, about how far was the shot? Did you score the bull?

Thanks for watching. I believe my hunter was using a PowerBelt Platinum bullet in his 50 Cal CVA. I'm not sure if it was a 270 or 300 grain. The shot was 203 yards. The bull scored 367 as is and would be in the low 380s with no broken points.

@@ElkCampTV well one nice shot and he was down! You could definetly see right off he had width and length! Your video footage and production are very well done.

I thought he was a good guide. His calling is great. But he made a mistake that no guide should ever make. Never, ever, ever, go up and grab the antlers before the hunter does.

I agree about not touching the elk before my hunter does. I've always gone out of my way to allow them to touch it first. Not sure why I did it in this instance but good catch!

Steve Chappell- Elk Camp Steve, actually I watched it back a couple times and then I noticed that the first hand that touched the antlers had no gloves on and then I saw that in the next frame you had gloves on so maybe it was just the way it was edited that made me think you touched it first. Anyway a good hunt and good calling and a great shot by the hunter.

It’s a shame KZread forced you to click on this video. I hate when that happens. With all due respect, if you don’t like hunting, don’t watch hunting videos. If you don’t like football, are you going to watch football highlights then talk nonsense to the players? No, you’re not. Have some common sense.
