One of the most exquisite and pure performances of this variation. She is superb. Her musicality is perfection. Her lines are purely classical with no distortions. Her ports des bras are elegant and simple. Just a pure, expressive, authentic performance of the highest calibre.

Classicism at its purest and most refined. Any dancer approaching the role of Aurora should study this.

I wonder who are the five persons who disliked the video... How could they ?! Her lines are so pure, her technique is so strong, and her musicality, her ports de bras, and her elegance are breathtaking !

I too love her gorgeous port de bras! But I think what I love the most about her is the way in which she uses her head and, in particular, her eyes. It's just so distinctive to her. Wonderful expressiveness and intelligence.

Superb indeed!! Another interesting clip, available on DVD, shows her being coached in this role by the late Rosella Hightower around 1981. How beautiful she was!! THose who love classical ballet can breath a sigh of relief that she has been appointed Director of the Paris Ballet School.

she's indeed one of the last dancer/ ballet teacher now to have been tauught by Noureev, A speachless teaching, based on listening of musical partition as it is; and movements , repeated till the almost possible perfection. Always in respect of proportions of the body, music partition an coreoghraphy, and heart of the dancers. This great " patrimoine que elle a la chance d'avoir reçue par le Maitre absolue R. N " est aujourdhui transmie par elle meme. Hoping someone will collect evrything Noureev have offered to humanity: pure art, connectin to G.d.

At that time she had not yet worked with Noureev. This is the French School from her training with Christiane Vaussard and Pierre Lacotte, Kalioujny and Franchetti that you can see here. She certainly gained other notions from Noureev when he arrived at the head of the Paris Opera, but she had already this classical royalty and purity.

@@alainspiteri502 Nureyev did not inject the Kirov sensibility not the Paris Opera style. In fact, he preferred the pure classism of the western style but with a push for more virtuosity or prowess. When he came to the west he only wanted to dance with Fonteyn - as far as one could get from the Kirov style. He hated Makarova’s style and he dislike partnering her. At the Paris Opera he was like aGod and they let him restage many ballets to add a bit of virtuosity. He hated Russian exagération and mannerism. He loved SylvieGuillame because although he didn’t instruct his dancers to follow her example of such extraordinary extensions, in Sylvie’s case she was blessed with her specific, special body and her extensions were authentic to her. Nureyev believed in every dancer pushing to their best. He pushedFonteyn beyond her perceived limits. Platel was authentic too, and whether or not she had been influenced yet by Nureyev only specific dates can say. She was just the teacher at the Prix de Lausanne 2020 and her belief in academic and pure lines in class without embellishments still exists

Le terme "la Danse Francaise" suppose une sorte de danse qui est tipiquement frencaise comme, par example une danse francaise folklorque. "La danse francaise" destininee a tipifier une style (francaise) est sans evidence.

I can see her great tecnique here. Smooth arms and beautiful turns, but I don't see what Aurora feels and what she wants to express with them. She is dancing as if a teacher tells her what to do/act. Her tecnique is really great obviously, but where is Aurora's charm? Am I too unsparing?
