The mintage figures from Royal Mint shows 1,454,856,250 2p coins produced. Is it a rarity to find one? NO they can be found in loose change every day. How can anyone ask such ridiculous prices?

Just as a warning all these prices are fake on eBay (just people trying pump up the price), there was around 1.8 billion of these coins minted with the date 1971 so sadly only worth their face value (2p)

Yes, there is SO much crap on here! They were ASKING prices by scammers. The mintage, just over 1.4 BILLION, so yes, Face Value. How do you pump up the price on something that's WORTHLESS??@@EffectiveEquity

My local coin shop has a large box of 'junk coins' they sell at 10 coins for $2.00 which is only 5 cents a piece. That's where I got my 1971 2 New Pence and there are more in there because that's what they are really worth. If you look at the NGC price guide, the 1971 2 New Pence proof coin is only valued at U.S. $1.50 so I don't know why anyone would fall for buying one for any of the E-bay listed prices. Don't let yourself get ripped off.

True. Sellers should know all fees on their heads BUYERS are putting as Scams. Our pockets empty as nothing in Account. They run off with coins and get RICH by melting. How much of Queen ELIZABETH II is still being purchased by Buyers for melting only. All the Metals and they are collecting NOTES

Yes, it’s true local coin shops, do sell foreign coins 5 for a dollar. It’s a tradition, spanning many, many, decades that I know of. Forty-years ago … the same. Rarely ever are the coins on display saying error or rare asking for more. The shops will sell those coins and buy in bulk I guess. Elizabeth II coins, of that type,are thinning out some recently… The last 4-5 times I’ve went this year, I’ve purchased $2 bucks worth every visit. The coins are mostly in great condition, thus that has interest for me as well. Many are a reminder, that kids could afford, back in the day, versus the American coin. Last visit I was digging in the box and bought 5 Canadian dimes … I had totally forgotten about them and the ship brought back memories from when I was like 12! Good times… And yes, use caution before purchasing anything online, I’d recommend. Some research of a few minutes, is better than nothing.! Trending items do bring trending prices but, be aware of the folks without high feedback numbers using the word “Rare”. No offense meant to anyone or anything… ✌️concerning that.

I asked the owner of my local shop where he gets the old foreign coins; he doesn't purchase them in bulk, they come from private collections he buys, usually from relatives of someone who died and didn't want them. Most of the collections are just junk and he throws that in the box. It's a very large box and usually full. The good thing about it is that because the original collectors were doing it for years I get a lot of old date foreign coins, often late 1800's, early, middle, and late 1900's. I went there yesterday and bought 80/$16 worth. Among what I bought were a few to finish up my Vichy French Franc collection and 9 British big pennys from 1911 to 1952 of better condition than what I already have. It's a great time killer and fun too.

Just because the sellers are asking that amount doesn’t mean it’s going to sell at the price, many different answers on this coin on many websites. So the only way to see take it to a specialist or auctions.

A few years a go one piece of 1971 2pence coins was sold by mistake for 12000$ .. And sence that time people are trying to sell these coins for a very high prices . Having said that they worth nothing more than 2 cents or pennies . I my self have more 20 coins of 1971 that are in unceculated condition . I can say ms67 grade . Thanks .

I have one same but year of 2000.. one desame but flower in the back 1984.

1983, 2 new pence is vary rare and worth a lot as it was a mistake and should have had two pence on the front, they released some in that year with new pence on them
