To be honest, I"m disappointed Cut allowed the Stephen / Ashley date to continue after he literally came at her and tried kissing her. That was a straight up violation and this kind of behavior should not be tolerated on Cut. They had an opportunity to set an example and didn't take it... although this is a silly reality show that pushes extremes, safety and respect of the contestants should still be the top priority. It doesn't matter that they met before, she clearly was not comfortable with him kissing her and did not consent to that happening. Ashley deserved much better from the Cut producers.

But the question becomes, did she say she's okay because she was put on the spot in front of Stephen and a bunch of cameras, or was she actually okay. I can't answer that question, but my observation of her throughout the interaction and in the way she left has me leaning towards she was definitely not okay. Even if she was, what he did was 100% wrong and a physical violation. Would have loved to see Cut intervene and not leave it up to the victim to decide what to do on camera.

This episode was so crazy, like so unreal. I had to pause it multiple times by how shocked and cringe it got. To the first girl who had the worst ego I have ever seen, the first guy being so awkward, the fruit snack dude and then we get Stephen, who had me legit concern for some of the girls. Just a wild ride this episode was

A lot of people commented on this. Jessica's narcissistic behaviors and Stephen's consent-violating behaviors are so different, with latter being much worse. Doesn't matter which gender. To that point, I've met people like Jessica who are straight, cis gender male a thousand times over. Narcissistic traits are common unfortunately, but to the degree presented here, not harmful, well maybe to Jessica since these behaviors may isolate her from others. The problematic behaviors Stephen presented on the other hand, omg. That's dangerous. Whatever intentions he had, just no, dude. I just hope that he doesn't escalate. Doesn't serve him, and certainly not the people his behaviors victimize. Again, doesn't matter who does it, and no one is immune to bad behaviors/abuse/violation of consent being done to them, regardless of gender/wealth/size/age/etc. Anyone can have their space violated.

please, thank you this comment is so much better than the ones ive been seeing in the comments so far. i’ve been endlessly searching for someone with this thought too, its validating for me because thanks to people like stephen in my life, i was genuinely triggered. we can all talk and joke about how much stephen is good at making people uncomfortable thanks to many of us also knowing a “stephen”. a lot of people from my hometown had and still have no boundaries from when i was in high school, i graduated a whole year ago now. its not a long time in the grand scheme of things, but i think others can relate, covid and mental illness has made it three and a half years since i’ve seen many of the people i was supposed to graduate with, and i come from a small town and moved “only two hours” away. so i can only IMAGINE how people native to their side of the country feel. im honestly distraught that they kept him on.

Honestly, I kinda knew this was bound to happen. I didn't know it would be so unhinged, but still. But I've always thought it was funny how people want to make The Button into this perfect and wholesome dating show with these suggestions and ideas, when it's absolutely not what the show is about. I've always seen it as less of a dating show and more of a social experiment. It's always gonna have selfishness and awkwardness and someone trying to "cheat" the system (like the blindfold episode) and all that, and that's how it works. It's too idealistic thinking they can get rid of that. In fact, that's exactly hat brings that "trainweck factor" that make us unable to stop watching, no matter how awkward it gets. That's why I had to laugh at people's disappointment in the previous episodes' comments when Cut tried the different approaches suggested and another batch of problems popped up. The format for this particular video also has its flaws, but that's part of what's fun about it. I'm really glad that Cut listens to the viewers and spices things up and I absolutely love the different approaches, but I wish viewers saw these new ideas not as "fixing the show" but as "making it more entertaining and interesting by shaking things up a little". That's what it's about, after all, entertainment and analysing human behavior

The moment when Stephen kissed Ashley without her consent should have been the moment that Cut stepped in and removed him from the episode. By not stepping in in any substantial way, it continues to normalize that kind of behavior as being relatively unproblematic, and forced Ashley to suffer the consequences.

Not sure how I missed this before, just watched this because you posted another "reject yourself" version. This one had quite some characters and wasn't quite as successful. But I think you all handle the problem cases very well! This was hilarious in it's own right.

This concept is interesting. Please keep this concept instead of kicking the other person out, because in the other one, people will always go for the attractive ones (like a tinder swipe) and it's a race to see who can eliminate the other faster, but with this one, you have to focus on personality and if you buzz out, the person staying in feels like they are the problem 😂
