Elgrand E51 - Bluetooth (aux input) installation via TV tuner

For those Elgrands not specced with an RCA input by the rear seats, it seems there's a spare socket on the TV tuner that you can use to get an auxiliary input to the OEM stereo. This video describes the process.
Note that doing this obviously relies on the TV not turning off when you drive. Mine stays on while driving but I understand this isn't the standard behaviour, so it seems someone may have fitted a bypass at some point. (Although if they did, I have not idea where it is!)

Thanks very much Paul. I have a S1 E51 without the Aux input. I didn't want to spend a cent or cut a hole in the dash. After watching your movie, I had a look at the TV box and found an Aux cable plugged in, but no visible RCA plugs to be found. Upon following the cable, I found an aftermarket Jap Digi TV converter stashed behind the the driver stepwell cover - WOW! With the spare extra long power wires stashed in the dash for "the next guy" (me), now have all local radio stations via a radio with RCA out I already had, now mounted between the front seats.
Beautifully eloquent; do more presenting gigs…soothing and pleasing to listen to you…and a great installation guide!
This is great, I prefer this solution to the hdmi box as I just want to listen to audio great video :)

Hi, I've got a series 3 2008. Have the RCA input spec through the wall in the same section you have. Though the line doesn't seem to be working as when I press aux it has tv and the other option shows a blue message square with Japanese saying no display E202. any guesses what could be up? I might have to take a look behind the trim and see if it's connected or what.

The main screen isn't touch, but if you search around online there are people who offer to fit touchscreen panels. For me personally though, I'm happy to just use the screen as-is (for the reversing camera, etc.), and have my phone mounted next to it for any 'smart' features I want (Google Maps navigation, etc.)
Hi, bought an audio TV connector for the TDV-3103 box from amazon japan, quick turnround 4 days but £21, which isn't a problem but the plug does not fit. Any chance you could forward part number please? Neil

My TV tuner is a TDV-3103V. Not sure if the "V" makes a difference? I'm not sure of the part number of the adapter itself, if it even has one.

Mine is not fit either, but i bought a cable for toyota crown and it fits.

My TV tuner is a TDV-3103V. Not sure if yours is a different model? It might well be as yours is a later Elgrand.

Yep, you have to register a new account on the Amazon Japan website. The account you have in your home country won't work.
Does it work while driving or only on parking gear?

Is there a button you can press to get back to fm radio without having to go through the steps to get in and out of TV program each time?

Oops found fm/am button so very simple. I've just used a simple aux Bluetooth transmitter which is Rechargeable. Works perfect.
