As someone who's been installing and repairing elevators for 35 years, I'd like to ad that you make sure you let that door hit it's open limit when in phase 2 before exiting. If your even slightly off, the door will close behind you and the car will be stuck at that floor. I can't even begin to tell you how many calls I've taken to remedy this situation.

In reality, procedure should dictate that the elevator car never be left unoccupied when phase 2 is turned on.

Pro tip. If you get to floor you're operating from, and you know more people are coming into the lobby who need to come up and may not have their own key, just turn the phase 2 switch OFF and leave the key in. It will revert to phase 1 and the next crew can come up.
