I would like to share an insight prompted by this video. The etymology of language is indeed fascinating. My personal favourite is the word 'personality'. As Rich mentioned, many words come from a Latin root, this is no exception. The word 'personality' is derived from the Latin words 'per' meaning 'through' and 'sona' meaning 'sound'. Through sound. This implies that your personality is transmitted trough the sound you make, through your voice. Think about it, the tone, the cadence, the speed of delivery, the quality of the sound speak volumes about a person's life experience. I am very fortunate to be a person who has a strong auditory preference so I believe I pick up on their personalities through their voices. "It speaks volumes" no pun intended!! As an exceptional coach you have to be an exceptional listener, what do you hear your clients say - not just the words uttered but how it is said, how their voice communicates their inner world. This is very powerful stuff and should not be overlooked when working with clients. It can be one of the main reasons why they are not achieving what they want from life because subconsciously others are picking up on the frustrations or anger hidden in their voice and therefore perceived as being in their personality. The answer is some voice coaching-if it worked for Margaret Thatcher it can work for your clients too!

I'm just trying to start my life as a coach, (been a Personal Trainer for 20 years focusing on anatomy and physiology). Wow , I am doing the same and was a personal trainer and fitness instructor for 15 or so years. I have been studying life coach for 3 or so months like a full time job. I just was excited to see someone almost in the same shoes as me! Plus I love rich litvin, amazing man and coach!
