duhhdarline I think that would limit her appearances and interactions with the rest of the cast. Sitcoms don’t usually make big changes like that. That’s why you always see Harvard level students on sitcoms end up at your local second tier university.

I doubt she will. The show is making the character think that they are the best and most interesting person in the world, which would break her heart even more when she doesn't get in, making good TV.

I get the Lydia adoring Alex and criticizing Elena all the time is supposed to be funny - but growing up with someone in the same household, who treats you this way?! It's toxic. And yeah, she accepted Elena being gay, but life is mostly in small, everyday stuff, and on everyday basis, Lydia has very little beside snide comments for Elena. But Papito cannot do a thing wrong. How comic. or honestly, sad.

"Papito can't do anything wrong". If you like this show the you probably should have/seen it on netflix. At the end of the netflix show alex ends up doing drugs and hiding it from lydia. When she finds out she is so disappointed she couldn't speak for so long. The only difference will elena and alex is that alex is a interesting character, and elena's whole character is "I'M GAY!".

@@mishtamoose8308 If you don't see the difference in Lydia's attitude towards the children, we are not watching the same show. Do you think somehow that they deserve different treatment because one is 'interesting' (for you maybe - for me, an entitled, vain brat), and the other is 'just gay'? she didn't even know she was gay when the show started, and Lydia was the same way with her.

@@csillakaszas7285 And at the start of the show she didn't have a personality. Alex is more interesting because he had actual character flaws. Elena's biggest flaw is that she is annoying. Edit: And if you didn't notice, elena is just as rude to lydia as lydia is rude to elena. She gets on this huge rant about how lydia should vote and she constantly tells lydia how she should be living her own life

@@mishtamoose8308 If you didn't notice, Elena is a child, Lydia is an adult. And you've just pointed out another flaw of her, congrats! I don't want to get into this BS topic of who is interesting - the question is, how adult members of a family should treat the youngsters, and how they shouldn't. Lydia and Elena are in a vicious cycle of negativity by the time the show starts - it wasn't started by an infant, and it couldn't be expected from a child to break it either. So yes, I'm putting it on Lydia. Why, when you'll have children, will you neglect the 'boring' one without a second thought - because how could you not, she/he is just not to your liking? Please, if you have nothing to add to _this_ _specific_ _topic_, just leave!

@@csillakaszas7285 You see the problem with your statement is that you said it had to be lydia that started this whole thing. If you watched the flash back episode of when elena was born you can clearly tell that she loved elena, and still loves elena. If you watch the episode where lydia gets elena to try wearing make up she first, apologizes for treating her badly in that episode. Second, she shows herself at her weakest she has ever shown anyone. If she truly didn't love her than she would not have apologized or shown her at her weakest. Elena constantly try's to control lydia's life, even though lydia hates it. It is shown that alex is much nicer to lydia, which is why she is nicer to alex than elena. Also why do you think that I would neglect my own child if it was boring. Parents have a special connection to their children. I have met a lot of boring people in my life, but if someone was to make fun of them I would defend them. Elena is more than boring. She is annoying and rude to her brother and grandmother. So they confide with each other, which is why they have such a close relationship

Unpopular opinion: Elena is sooo overbearing (as Lydia once correctly described her: “annnnnnnoyinhg!”) Still, glad they’re sticking to their roots and addressing modern social issues 🙃

I think thats like the point. We were all like that as teenagers. we thought we knew everything and that we were always right. But I love that elena is so smart yet so dumb about some stuff (like flirting). They don't paint her to be perfect and I love that.
