I don't see the Pliskova comparison. Pliskova plays very flat, whereas Rybakina plays a heavy ball. Pliskova chooses not to run down balls, whereas Rybakina likes to move forward and can defend well. Pliskova doesn't like being at the net, whereas Rybakina has good instincts at the net. Pliskova doesn't get down well for low bouncing balls, whereas Rybakina doesn't have an issue with them. Rybakina's biggest problem is staying focused for a whole match - much like Petra Kvitova. I think she plays a little bit more within herself than Kvitova does though, so she doesn't tend to be *so* bad when she loses focus.

No ranking points from Wimbledon, Rybakina is hungry for this.

yes and because of this ridiculous situation we have a match in the QF of two players with GS wins from last year, any another player in the draw has it, normally they should meet in SF, very unfair

Would love to see talented Elena go all the way and win the tournament. Love her big power game. A woman of extreme grace and a star.

I pray for her all over AO victory…was upset when she was ranked only no. 28 and played in arenas behind those prime venues like Rod Laver arena…so happy now that she has pushed through. Elena is a graceful, beautiful and very composed player.

Wow, as much pace as Collins hit the tennis ball, Rybakina hits even harder. The power of these two women is unreal. Too bad one has to lose.

I can’t understand the stubbornness of this AO channel putting the winners photo always, so they kill the thrill, and I do take it as un respectful for us the viewers, like we are totally second or third kind of people who didn’t pay for a ticket or didn’t watch the match live, so then we don’t deserve the thrill of not knowing who wins.

Elena Rybakina is a big star... She has everything: power, huge first serve, great handskils, finesse... However, her greatest weapon is her mature and calm demeanour on court... She never panic, she is always in control of herself. She doesn't spend energy in useless display of theatrics or premature celebrations. Also, she is a good sport. She never try to use the public in her favor, innoble tactic that nowadays is used by almost everyone, specially locally supported players. Tennis should be always one against one. Never “me and the full stadium against my rival”, as Nick Kyrgios, Kokkinakis and a few others believe it should be... And the frustrated Australian fans are happy to play along... It sound like a little desperation to me.

It is not an issue about her being pretty and playing tennis. It is a statement about the fact that she is a talented tennis player and she happens to be a likeable person. Good for her an I hope she wins this tournament.

Dani had a nice comeback and was hitting some nice shots, but Elena won W for a reason. Nice highlight at 30-30 of the 1st game of the 3rd set, they both were smacking the ball pretty good. That might have been a will breaker. Compliments to both ladies.

Collins is still finding her range and confidence after being on such a crazy hot streak. I hope she stays healthy this year because she can do really big damage at majors and really deserves to break through and win one.

Finally a match between two non hysterical players. Been a while.

On of the best performance from Elena. Tactical, powerful and strong mental. Love to watch her way to play. If I have to suggess is only to be more agressive on anticipating opponent's return.

Collins got some much needed humility. Go Elena!!!

Fun Facts, 3 Americans consecutively were in the AO Finals during 2020-2021-2022

HUGE round of applause to both. D. Collins was brilliant and never let up in the second set but I think she needed to dig deeper if she wanted to win. I fully fully applaud and congratulate E. Rybakina. Amazing tennis and similar style to her opponent. The difference was that she was more precise and played some shots better. Not too much luck in terms of shot other than some of the ones I saw in this sequence but I think we can all agree Ryba was the better player in this match. A complete story of tennis love ... wish I could tell her frequently that I love her. Congrats ryba!

There's something wrong with Danielle Collins and it's how uncomfortable she gets when she's up against very aggressive players who hit the ball much harder than her, which she doesn't know how to control. Just watch as Ribakina hits a hard deep ball on the ball and Collins is left unarmed and forced off balance completely. Another observation regarding this match is that, since Collins hits the ball very hard, Rybakina likes that kind of strong blows very well, since she receives it and counterattacks very well. I love them both, I like them very much but one had to win and it was the Kazaka who won. Collins will have to improve on what I mentioned above, I wish I was around her and told her, I think she would love my notes to improve her game. IMHO!

Its called getting beat at your own game. Elena is stronger. Feed a power hitter like Elena pace like Collins does, this is the result. Collins did win the 2nd set. Sorry Alfredo. Collins could care less about your notes. She is coached by the best.

Rybakina won a grand slam, at Wimbledon no less, and would be in top 8 had Wimbledon points been awarded, so stop spreading misinformation, and give credit where credit is due. I agree, rankings SHOULD reflect consistent high levels at tournaments, but currently they don't, as 1 full grand slam points are NOT included in the ranking system. This doesn't benefit anyone, least of all the champions!

I was rooting for Collins. Could her draw have been any harder. I mean facing muchova and Rybinka back to back. Well she was runner up. Last year.I mean that had to take some energy. I gues there can only be one winner... Azaranka is still in the draw so hey let's see how it goes

Cli thought the same thing, this is not how collins used to be…to make it worse rub could barely hit a first serve at times and collins kept making weird return errors on the second serves

I want fiesty collins back…this one is too submissive and plays like she’s afraid to lose…come portent different from the collins before.
