Seems to be 5e only, but you don't mention that. I am all for thirdparty 5e content as it means I am not paying wotc, but I am seeking to move to Pathfinder 2 and the kickstarter doesn't mention pf2e. I guess we can convert it, but if I am looking to buy something I don't want to need to convert it myself.

*Other classes:* Okay. I'm a little hurt. I'm also missing Focus points. And the DM is giving us exactly 11 minutes to rest before the next wave of enemies approaches. I can either Treat Wounds on myself or Refocus. What should I do? HP or FP? *Wood Summoner:* Pathetic. _(gets both HP and FP)_
About the wood elemental healing effect for summoner You don’t spend 10 minutes TO HEAL. You get free healing while refocusing, something you’d already have to do to get back focus points. Still not amazing but better than you’d think at a glance, at least. Sure, you can have someone treat wounds on you in that time, but I frequently see people with chunks of hp still missing after that, so it’ll get some use for sure.
In my games I'll reflavor the Flamethrower as literally "throwing flames." Like: he's not acting like the flamethrower weapon that sprays a burst of fire, it's literally the elemental throwing pieces of flames like a catapult in a line.
Because I also got confused by Access before, Access doesn't further limit the option to only the listed entry, they just treat it as common. It makes those options more accessible but only to certain characters (but GMs can still just allow it).
Just a point of clarification, access is always tied to something uncommon and it gives a requirement which upon meeting nullifies the uncommon trait. Otherwise it is just an uncommon thing that required DM approval.
The metal elementals can have all three physical damage types. If you make the primary attack a bludgeoning attack of some kind, then give it versatile S, you can then make the secondary attack a piercing attack because its other "hand" is a spike.

@@megavore97 That checks out. So, this version of Amiri killed a Fire Elemental and absorbed it's power rather than slayed a Giant and took his sword?
To note, Summoners start with a focus spell called Evolution Surge. One of the options for this spell is to give the eidiolon a 20-foot status bonus to movement speed for one minute. I can see this being a natural spell to cast prior to using the Elemental Maelstrom. Does this make Elemental maelstrom busted? Not really, but it does help. Summoner starts with a movement speed boosting option right at level 1, and it's a very strong one too.
Makes sense for me that fire trait triggers weakness on bludgeoning damage since there is not only cold but "water" weakness and, as far as i'm concearned, usually water means either cold or bludgeoning damage.

The metal companions bunker ability seems great for creating a roadblock. Use a ranged weapon, set up the bunker in a doorway, and then shoot over it. Enemies have to attack it to get through, but they have a harder time hitting and take damage if they do.
I feel like you underestimate the added value of Wood eidolon's refocus healing. It's IN ADDITION to recovering a focus point. The thing you wanted to do anyway. My Chosen One summoner would've loved that! More free healing is really nice, it allows you to spend less time AND resources

Or updates to sulis.
You know, it's not for most tables, but the synergy between the two makes me think a dual-class elements barbarian and kinetisist would be very interesting to see. that heavy overlap lol.
A few small things to point out: For the Wood eidolan, since Refocusing no longer has a cap on how much you can use it back to back, it can see use in a build that loves to dump all of your focus points in fights so you can get the healing benefit for free. I guess that was the idea. I am going to homebrew the Eidolan elemental explosion to cause the damage to depend on the element of the Eidolan. Electricity, Cold, Fire, Bludgeoning, Slashing, and Piercing. Its just better for the theme and makes the choice more impactful. I overall love these options. I do hope they begin to make ALL versions of elementalism focus on variety because to me, thats what sells the whole elemental theme. For example, if they did an elemental Monk who uses elemental ki skills, Wood having access to Vitality or Void damage is much more flavorful than "wood does more bludgeoning".
If you've got the lay on hands archetype, wood is a 33% buff to your self healing and means you don't have to heal yourself during party heals. If your GM times things, this is great

That's a huge decider on how useful something like this is! If you're in a rush where every minute counts, this is definitely pretty good! But if you're in a slower paced game where you can take 40 minutes between encounters to heal up with Treat Wounds, it's less useful. It definitely depends on the campaign and situation! ^^

10:15 Notable things: - The damage for this AoE scales at 1D6 per _level_ rather then every 2 level. That is very strong scaling. - it gains the Versatile trait from metal elemental core 13:40 You got it exactly wrong - Access is a step _down_ from Uncommon. It is a path to _make_ it common for you. "A character who meets the specifications listed there has access to that option just like they would to a common option, even though it’s uncommon." - GMG p. 35 If you are a Storm order druid, that elemental is as selectable as a common thing for your. The GM can still ban it, of course. But that would be like banning a common option. (Of course, a lot of stuff that grants access often is itself uncommon. So you need to ask your GM to even get the Access).
Elemental burst doesn’t lock you into bludgeoning if you aren’t fire, it deals the same kind of damage as your primary attack if you aren’t fire. Which could be any of the physical types.
Yeah I feel like the elemental eidolons and animal companions were probably written before the kineticist was finalized and they got missed in editing, like a lot of things in this book.
A great example of "Everything that isn't fire becomes bludgeoning" is the spell Elemental Annihilation Wave, and it conjures all 4 elements (written pre-RoE) and deals 1d6 fire damage and 3d6 bludgeoning damage. As if it couldn't deal 1d6 fire, 1d6 electricity, 1d6 cold and 1d6 bludgeoning?
The raging barbarian bit played with 0,25x speed is hilarious.
Summoners get a level 1 feat Energy Heart, along with the higher level Dual Energy Heart feat, to give eidolons elemental damage of the player's choice to their strikes. It feels weird you can't combine that with the Elemental Burst. Its rough to see that it does have a line about including traits from their strikes given by Elemental Core but no support for the Energy Heart feats.
Access is not a trait and it just means it's common for the one with access
NoNat forgetting once again that Moment of Clarity is a thing for Barbarians so you're not limited in what concentrate actions you use.
did he just fail to realize that 6 HP in 10 minutes can be done while you're getting your wounds treated?
No Nat they get the healing when they refocus so they are they are doing what they would normally do anyway during a break but now they also get healed some hp.
The Wood Eidolon heal isn't awful. Won't always be great but I ain't gonna scoff at being able to help top me off between fights. Treat Wounds isn't always going to get you from injured to full (notably there's a few levels between DC 20 & 30 being a consistent target number) so if I can sometimes shorten rest time that can be impactful. Ten minutes less rest time.

The Elemental Instinct barbarian is a fun and flavorful subclass, but it sucks that if you're a Barbarian with Kineticist dedication that Rage and Channel Elements are two separate actions. Regarding the wood elemental companion and its support benefit. If you think about it it's actually not that bad. -5 speed means the target cannot use the step action. This could also set up attack of opportunity or consume most of their actions (1 to interact, 1 to step and then only 1 action remains). This could effectively nullifyl a spell casters turn as if they move they may not have enough actions to cast and if they don't you get an attack of opportunity (if you have that ability)

@nonat: just a mention about the acces trait because you always make it seem more complicated than it is. If someting is uncommen or rare normally you need gm permission to take that options, if however you meet the criteria mentioned with the acces you gain acces to that option, translated this means: I made a character from the broken landsregion with ùeans i can take the aldori duelist dedication without gm permission. this al takes into consideration of course that you are using the golarian setting and RAW. Even shorter it means: i meet the criteria for the acces trait= that option is commen for me. It's all meant as a guideline for how to mix and match options based on your characters story and as an example for people making their own setting. For example, if people want to play pathfinder but like the exandria setting from critical role you could decide to give the gunslinger class the acces trait for characters from whitestone ( and another city i'm forgetting) this would mean that anyone playing in your campaign as a gunslinger has to ground their character to a specific part of your world. It's sets boundaries and clear rules that can be helpfull for people who need structure or the flounder. In the end you can always go ask your gm to use a uncommen option without meeting the criteria but that informs your gm of you playing a character that breaks preset rules about the world and figuring that out together is nice. It prevents situations where the gm wants to run quest for the frozen flame in a world entirely set in prehistoric time only for 3 of the 4 players playing automaton, inventors and gunslingers that might not be the flavor he's goning for. Anway sorry for the rant, hope you heal up well an have a wonderrfull rest of your day sir.

The Eidolons were a little disappointing but the Barbarian and most of the companions were cool.
9:20 Objection. If a summoner takes the ability to fuse with his eidolon, he can literally go anywhere that doesn't require flight. Bear with me, ok? Let's say the setting is, as suggested, an aquatic one. The team has to get to the bottom of an ocean trench or the like. Summon, fuse, go - while the others are still figuring how not to suffocate (unless, of course, the entire party is composed of amphibious races, then who cares). Same deal if you need to get through a long passage filled with water. Summon, fuse, go. And let's not forget the hidden security trick... in an old D&D3.5 campaign, my character was the only one who could sleep in a territory infested by monsters without worrying about being attacked. Why? Because he was a Gold Dragon Disciple - that gets the ability to breathe underwater. And he went to sleep at the bottom of a well. And as far as I remember, there is no rule that states that you have to be AWAKE for your Eidolon to stick around. Summon, fuse, get in well or pond, sleep.
Paizo for the love of Abadar fix the summoner. It's too weak.
