Also from memory in performance mode select tracks, apply filter movement to all at once via knob. Leave performance mode and values return to what they were.

Just so you know, all of the performance mode items are available outside of performance mode. They have been talking about allowing recording of the performance mode, but at this point, it's just a rumor.

Really excited to see how you end up pairing Play & Octatrack! I'm planning on running my Play thru Akai Force in a similar manner to leverage the FX. Would suggest giving the knob double tap a try, it's super convenient for navigation once you get the hang of it and figure out how to avoid accidental touches 🤣

The save pause is only when saving via file. You can tap the save on the keys on the right and it saves the state to your project without stopping playback.

For me, Digitakt still wins. Play has only an A/D amp envelope and no filter envelope. Also no headphone out, they really missed an opportunity connection-wise. On the back there is plenty of space for 8 individual outs, that would be killer. Also no separate power input. If you want to use USB MIDI, you have to power it from there.

You can use all knobs, eg filter, in performance mode too, so you can gradually change effects

I LOVE my Play, I make stuff on it I would never make on an Elektron box, but I miss an audio input in comparison to a Digitakt. Not for sampling, but for gluing and side chaining a mix. It begs to be the centerpiece and running external audio through the performance FX would make it so much better.

21:08, Hey maybe you should make a video about the mastering plugins you use. I also exclusively play with hardware, and the only thing I use a DAW for is mastering the final tracks.

I wouldn’t really use one over the other, the Octatrack is a device I pair with my other machines like the Play. I think the Play is a faster drum machine in terms of how fast you can make a production.

I really like the concept of Poly Play, but, if I put random patters generators aside, I still think that Deluge is much more complete instrument. Issue with randomness, even if it's a 'variation' of a pattern, is that it will always sound random and, at best derivative. I don't see anything special in Poly Play as an instrument to compose music instead of 'generating' it, it looks like a rather basic sample player. Intrigued tho, I need to get my hands on one, maybe I'll change my mind p.s. if you ant to check interesting pattern generator plug-ins, I'd recommend trying out playbeat 3, loopmix and atlas. I use those for inspiration. Atlas for instance can take all your smple collection and generate beats/kits on the fly, try it with your sample from mars collection, and you will be surprised.

It all depends what you want from it. I had the Deluge put it against my mpc live, the live won and i sold the Deluge. I recently got the squarp hapax for it's pattern generator and Euclidean to spark idea's and sequence all my hardware synths and Mpc. It took way to many attempts to generate anything musical. For me the polyend will get results way quicker for what i want. Time is precious.

@@Romenet310 I use the sequencer as a scratch pad for drum patterns, i will use the polyend play for more ultimately everything will end up in cubase 11 for mixing and mastering and that includes all my hardware synths and outboard gear.
