Cenk enters the chat........ Why they stopped cooperating with him is beyond my believe. He was the sole reason I got a couple of Elektron machines a few years ago. True specialist! Ricky and Mario is also cool, but musically, none of them are any where near the level Cenk is.

would definitely buy it. stereo is the dream. what i hope there will be also : - possibilty of an extra looper in the recordings options, and the possibilty of starting recording at when we press play on the digitakt ( not only threshold dependent ) - hope multitrack recording will include the fx per channel ( not as a dedicated fx channel that gather the fx of all the tracks ) - more sequencers ( grids from mutable instruments would be amazing ) - stems 😅 ty, such a great news. my fav machine of all time.

This is a very cool announcement! Looking forward to seeing demos and such from yourself once it actually drops. I’m sure it’ll be super fun and informative like always. I’m also wondering if I should use this opportunity to pick up an original. I’m pretty much all modular but picked up a Model:Samples to mess around with the kiddos. It does that alright but I’m not super sold on it so maybe I’ll upgrade. Curious to see when this will be available now haha. Also, I’m with you, the yellow screen is the one!!!

I just got a Digitakt a few months ago. I’m sorta kicking myself, but I also know that it takes awhile to get a new released item. I’m excited to see demos throughout the year.

I'm no fan of the white screen either. Looks so cold ☹ I much more prefer the mellow, yellow, warm and viby led, but yeah what can you do? 😊

I'll be happy to see improved sample management, more sample memory, better build quality. I don't really like potentiometers on Digi - they are sandy, scratchy, there is no joy to rotate them. I enjoy Model Samples encoders much more! I hope there will be improvement!

Mod page looks like its taken over lfo page, but before fx page was buried in amp. Hopefully mod mean theres more than just lfo’s as modulators, maybe option for more envelopes? Thatd be fun.

I’m wondering if they will expand the USB support or keep it just 2 channel in/out unless you use a computer with overbridge. I really would love to send effects through my iPad easier.

from what i've read takt is rate or beat in swedish, so digitakt means digital beat machine, and syntakt could be close to drumsynth. Then I think digi does not pronounce the same is swedish and english, hence the pronouciation dilemna. Well I'm french and used to pronounce Levi's and Nike the wrong way so...

Interested in a new model series or adding machines to the cycles

If Elektron released a do all unit that combined Digitakt, Digitone with FM synthesis and Syntakt with multiple Synth Engines in it, they would clean up. Everyone would buy that unit. It’s a strange marketing strategy to release separate units. While we’re there, why not add Octatrack functionality, and no other company could compete.

I wonder if polyphony will be possible. Hopefully "modular" means we can link tracks together for polyphony

128- 256 steps at 1/2 scale would be what the step total would be. that is bonkers. also if the per track effects are modular in order like the analog heat fx digital fx, I MIGHT DIE

I was thinking about hitting a forth of July sale but I’ve been hearing so much about the bugs idk now!

Someone sent me the test page link a couple hours ago and I was sceptical. I’m sad this means the end of the OT sadly, and I always kinda wanted to turn it into some sort of live performance DJ hybrid. But with 16 tracks you could actually do a live performance and mix DJ style on it. Channels 1-8 on the left, 9-16 on the right, mute/unmute to transition tracks and or get a midi fader CCed to the track volumes. I can’t tell you how I know this but there’s a Polyend Tracker + and possibly something else (not sure if it’s going to be released at the same time) at Superbooth and I was going to wait for that, but if this is real, I think it’ll be the only sampler I need. Actual 4 bar loops for 5/4 jungle? What more could I want!

this cant be the end of the OT, there's way too much not in the mix here, no scenes, no pickup machines, the outputs are lacking, i still think we'll see some sort of successor to the octatrack, and damnit it'll have a fader. wild bout the tracker, but i guess we'll see soon enough !

Octatrack killer…? Still got mad love for my Octatrack. Should be a great entry point for new people getting into Elektron.

I want a monomachine 2 tbh. It feels like the Syntakt is the closest thing to the monomachine that electron makes, with a variety of sonic engines rather than being limited solely to FM like the digitone, but it still feels less capable in a lot of ways and the fm synthesis. The fact that the monomachine had a polyphonic mode, an arpeggio mode, and all of this across multiple synth engines that have no modern equivalent in Elektron boxes wayyyy back in the mid 2000s when the 2020's Syntakt can't do any of that shit, it's really kind of annoying tbh. It's sick that the Syntakt mixes analog and digital engines, but it seems like it doesn't know if it wants to be a groove box or a drum machine, while the monomachine was a groove box that let you play chords on the synth engines. The chord engine on the Syntakt is also pretty garbage, and arguably the most limited sonically of the entire device, it doesn't replace true polyphony. It feels like Elektron intentionally hampers their modern hardware, which is incredibly frustrating, paying 1200 for a modern device only to realize it's heavily lacking compared to their 2004 boxes. I love so much about the Elektron workflow but sometimes the limitations feel less like charming quirks and more like limitations, especially when you realize that some of those limitations weren't in place on their older hardware devices.

we want OCTATRACK 2!!!

if it looks the same as the previous unit they will have a bad time. I don't believe the workflow is so perfect that it doesn't need any changes

I bought the original DTK last year and honestly there’s nothing here apart from the longer sequencer that I would like to have, and in fact I’m not a fan of the withe pixels on the screen and the lack of type on the Elektron logo (as in the syntakt), I know that’s aesthetics only but the original looks so much better. Edit: White* pixels

@@Mildawg1it depends on how you use it, for me, 8 audio tracks and 8 midi tracks is more than plenty and I use pedals for FX anyway… the longer sequencer is the one thing I wish I had… but not worth upgrading

Look up the analog rytm videos on it - very cool and intuitive!

This means that a Digitone 2 and a Syntakt 2 will be released, if these three machines are designed to work together their sequencers should have the same lengh

I feel like everyone wanted an Octatrack 2 and nobody asked for a Digitakt 2 but maybe this is cool 🤷‍♂️ do you think the updates get close enough to octatrack in the ways people want to use it?

Ya know you’re not wrong. Part of me thinks at this point there either a. Must be a new OT in production, we just haven’t seen it Or b. Something about the OT is difficult to recreate / iterate on meaningfully and it’s keeping them from doing it But the OT still does a handful of things no other machine does, the scenes and crossfader tricks, the pickup and neighbor tracks, there’s a lot there that I’m not seeing here in the DT2 … at least not yet

we just needed 8 outs, not 8 more sounds crammed thru the same 2 outs 🤦🏻 it is positively an akt of digits, not of didgeridoos or did-gees... wtf... why are people still mispronouncing it. digital but replace L w/KT. duh. misses some key necessities. still cool, but for my needs i don't see myself in any hurry to replace mine.

so essentially digitakt 1 is now the ugly old fart who doesn't get any updates and I must get DT2 to be cool.. Thanks Elektron..

I dunno I think mk1 is still fantastic and you can get a ton out of it, it was the best drum machine under 1000 until literally yesterday ;)

Elektron is so uninspired since the OG people left. They literally keep releasing the same bits of hardware with different software capabilities or limitations, all of which do less than their designs from the 2000s. The company has really released nothing new or interesting since the original OT/RYTM era, which is what, 10+ years now lol. And now you can buy this for more than an original octatrack. ????
