@@GardensoftheAncientsHerbal with vital you need to take the additional step of mapping breath to macro 1. but with this, as long as your instrument is sending breath data on CC2, it should work automatically

I just downloaded surge today and it's telling me your patches were created with a streaming release of 21 while I'm using a release of 16. Did you use some kind of nightly build?

I used the version for apple silicon computers. I always get that message whenever I use those patches on an Intel machine. They'll still work tho!

Hello, I bought a cheap wind controller on aliexpress that has two dynamics settings - strength and sensitivity. I managed to connect to the Surge, but the dynamics does not respond. The sound comes out as if I'm playing a keyboard with no sensitivity, it doesn't respond to force or velocity. Could you tell me if there is any configuration in Surge to be done? Thanks.

Hi Jeff, it depends on the CC message that's being sent from your wind controller. You could try following the instructions I outlined for CharlieBerman-cf1mx in another comment

Hi, thanks for the tips, but it didn't work. I tested several editors for Windows 11, in almost all of them I managed to make sound come out, in some they even graphically showed blowing with more or less force, but the real sound that came out of the speaker was at constant volume, without expression. The only app where I got the sound to show the force I was applying when blowing was WindSHYNTberry, but it's a simple program without any features. At first I thought that the problem could be the instrument, as it is a cheap instrument bought on aliexpress, but in your videos I saw that you tested cheap EWI like Vangoa and it worked correctly, and my EWI instrument also has two types of adjustments for blowing, in addition to what I mentioned before, in some programs the bar graph showed if I was blowing harder or softer, but it didn't reflect the audio. Really disheartening, I don't know what else to do. The instrument I bought is this pt.aliexpress.com/item/1005005892185796.html

@@jeffherzeg try hooking it up to a MIDI monitor (Midview is free for windows) and let me know what sort of midi messages the instrument is sending. Are you using Surge as a standalone application or are you hosting it in a DAW?

hello, I dont know how to use your presets. ewi-solo sound ok but yds-150 no sound.

Hi Charlie, after looking at the YDS-150 manual and MIDI implementation chart, it looks like the YDS-150 sends breath pressure data on MIDI CC #11. I don't own a YDS-150, but from what I can tell from the manual, this can't be changed. Here's one solution: -open surge -right click on "breath" (near the centre-bottom) -select "copy targets" -right click on "expression" (to the right of "breath") -select "paste" -save the preset (button, centre-top) -do this for every preset you want to use with the YDS-150 an easier solution though would be to use some sort of MIDI signal conversion software. let me know what your operating system is, or if you're using any particular DAW and I'll let you know what your options are.
