Electronic Gear, Gizmos & Gadgets For RVing - 12 LYRV Must Haves

I’ve installed, reviewed, and tested lots of different electronic gear and gadgets over almost ten years of full-time RVing. Some stuff worked out better than others, and some were just toys. To help out new RVers, I’ve decided to go through all my RV electronics and come up with a list of what I feel have been twelve must-haves.
I didn’t start my RVing adventures with many of these items but have acquired them over the years and now would not want to part with them. Basically, I would want to replace these things if, god forbid, our fifth wheel was stolen, burned, or a total write-off.

    Another great video. I agree that once you have the must-haves, you won't know how you lived without them. We have a rear-view camera in our suburban as well. The tinted windows or a high load are no problem, and we have no blind spots. The signal boosters, weather station, and surveillance cameras are the only ones we don't have. We went with a pedestal mount power management unit. That way we can test the pedestal before we open up our Trailmanor.

  • @LoveYourRV

    @LoveYourRV

    I find they aren't terrible helpful to me on the road since my big Ram truck mirrors when flipped up stick out far enough for a good view down both sides of the trailer. But I can see them being a help on a blind back in where you can't see anything in the mirrors on the one side due to the angle.

    My best friend was the service manager at Camping World. In his own words if you have to plug into a separate device before plugging into the pedestal you bought a piece of garbage. I worked at a resort in Colorado and people would come to me all the time saying they're little black box told them that our pedestal was bad. I would go out with a meter and check the pedestal completely and nothing was wrong with it, it was there garbage box.

    One of the things I like most about camping or RVing is getting away from all of the gadgets and crap we accumulate in everyday life. This video, although it has a couple good ideas, suggests that we bring gadgets and crap with us. I suppose camping has changed over the years.

    These are my personal must-haves but not everyone's I admit. Different strokes for different folks. My list may be a little different since I don't own a house and have lived and traveled in the RV for 10 years now, so this isn't so much a getaway for me but actually, my regular life, not just "camping". Hi Ray , question, did you change out the rubber valve stems on your trailer wheels for your TPMS ? I don’t know if this is a must or not thanks 😊

  • @LoveYourRV

    @LoveYourRV

    3 жыл бұрын

    I didn't have to because the first time I got new trailer tires after about a year of travel I told the tire shop to add the metal stems. It wasn't much more in cost if I remember. Even without the TPMS, I wanted metal stems versus rubber. Most TPMS makers advise metal stems and I think it helps the heat transfer from the wheels to the sensor better.

    We travel pretty simply but I am still on my original battery...a Walmart lowest price deep cycle that was almost a year old when I installed it. Coming up on its tenth installed year and I'll swear it is because I lucked out (before I even knew about it) and bought a NOCO trickle charger that also has a desulfation cycle. First install and use and three days later its still blinking at me! Finally read the manual and went online. 4A charger on a couple of year old battery...desulfation takes time. LOL. Battery tests out, accepts charge, runs us out there and etc as new. Buy a modern trickle charger is what I'm saying.

  • @LoveYourRV

    @LoveYourRV

    3 жыл бұрын

    Personally not a huge need for so many but I get them from companies to review so I like to use them for an extended time so I can come back with a long term opinion on a product for my viewers. These days there is a lot of thief from RVs especially from driveways, RV service centers and storage yards, unless you have footage most cops don't care and its also proof for insurance company claims. As technology has advance the cost of security has dropped so many more people are interested in added it. I imagine many thieves are a little more hesitant to hit an RV covered with cameras versus one that isn't. They are are also popular with boat owners. Cheers, Ray

    Every new gadget is thought to be a plus when first purchased. It's only after some time do the one's not worth the cost and effort to install become evident. By then a channel would rather not admit the truth after doing a video about how great it was the first few days they owned it. How about a video on ten gadgets not worth buying? Wouldn't that be just as or more important to know information? Sadly that kind of advice is typically "forboden" by YT channels and that makes it even more informative, imo.

    Good idea. I should go through my old reviews and pick out a total bad product list, can start with this - www.loveyourrv.com/more-winter-rving-prep-wireless-lp-gas-level-meters-ac-weather-cover/ and www.loveyourrv.com/betterweigh-mobile-towing-scale-review-part-1/ but I don't think its forbidden or that uncommon as you think, have seen many KZreadrs put out such a list. In fact many do it becasue they know that negativity often draws more views. I usually update my reviews after using things for some time 6 month to 2 years and have done many review update round up posts over the years in which I point out products that didn't work out or had flaws only found after extended use.
