Electromagnetic Clutches - How It Works
Ғылым және технология
KEB electromagnetic (friction) clutches allow two shafts to be engaged when power is applied. This video is a working animation of how they work.

Is this pulley universal look for use in supercharger turbo set up?

KEB electromagnetic clutches can be used in many applications including the automotive industry. Contact us to connect with a KEB application engineer. They can help find the right solution for you.
Is the opposit available, so the clutch is engaged with put the magnet being energised, then when it is switched on, the clutch disconnects?
You teaching very well 💕

Thank you! 😃
Hi, great vid, do you think it would matter if the drive came in via the pulley instead of the shaft? I'm thinking about taking a belt drive from an unused pulley on an engine to drive the pulley on the clutch assembly then using the shaft as a pto. Any thoughts?

In short, yes, you can run the clutch either way so long as the magnet is held fixed. It doesn’t matter if you clutch the rotor on from the hub/pulley or clutch the hub/pulley on from the rotor. Contact us if you have questions or want to learn how our products can fit into your application. Thanks for your question! - Jake

That's a question for a KEB sales engineer. KEB America serves the North American market and we are happy to assist you if you live here. However, if you live outside North America you can find a local representative to ask for engineering and pricing questions: www.keb.de/company/representatives-agencies Thanks! - Jake

@@KEBAmerica - How much DC current is needed? Required ?
So, its similar in mechanism as a car cluth, except, its operated by electromagnet. Also, it implies that if we put less than required voltage in the coil, causing the cluth to slip, it will overheat quickly.
Is it possible to apply a small voltage so that the armature can slip on the fixed plate? It means no total engagement between those components.

Lmao. Geniuses think alike. I too started researching clutches after thinking about how good it'd be to have a manual disconnect for an electric skateboard. I think electromagnetic clutch is probably the way to go about this but this seems overkill for the application.
Are there friction plates?
@KEBAmerica
3 жыл бұрын
Yes, our most common style of clutch is a friction clutch. The “friction plate” would be the armature. The armature actuates axially over a small air gap to engage or disengage the clutch. More information on our website here: www.kebamerica.com/products/electromagnetic-clutch/

I'm not sure I understand your question. We provide clutches for many different types of applications. If you would like to learn more you can contact a local KEB representative here: www.keb.co.uk/contact/contact-worldwide
is any damage when engage in high rpm?

Thanks for the comment. Do you have a machine that requires a clutch running at high rpm? We have many options (standard and custom designs) that could help you. Give us a call or email us about an application you're working on and our engineers can give you more details. www.kebamerica.com/contact
How can i use a clutch?

A clutch engages and disengages your power transmission from the driving shaft to the driven shaft. If you have an application you would like to discuss, contact us through our website. www.kebamerica.com/contact
Mechanical is simply but the driver circuit always make it headache. It can't operate fast cycle enough from the magnetic circuit delay hysteresis. So that servo motor has replaced it.

Can you explain futher? Really trying to learn about this stuff 😅

@@Noadvantage246 It's commonly used in motion and sudden stop by actuating electric current to the clutch. Normally they have its duo on another shaft end, it is magnetic brake. When one want to engage the shaft in motion they send current to clutch and disengage brake. And when stop periods comes , they disengage clutch(by stop current) and engage brake simultaneously . Say it easy is they are quite seen in intermitten motion mechanism.

@@alexlo7708 Interesting. So what do you mean by "magnetic circuit delay hysteresis"? And you're suggesting a servo motor has replaced what?

@@alexlo7708 Also I get what you mean with the electromagnetic brake as a counter part to the clutch but I'm wondering is there a system that can act as both the clutch and brake?

@@Noadvantage246 In packaging plastic bag business, most advance machines use servo motor in shaft driven rather than magnetic clutch-brake dual. They say it has faster output.
I had something very different in mind
This should be used on EVs so that can be revved.
