    Next step would be to have electric motors on the front wheels also and have a torque vectoring sensor that adjusts power to each motor as you steer left and right!!! Now that would be coooolll!!!!!

    I believe the estimates for range are quite optimistic. I've got a trike that has 2/3 that amount of power, limited to 35 MPH by software, that gets significantly lower range at full speed than stated. Of course, at very low speeds, 12-16 mph, your range estimates sound reasonable. This bike would be street legal in Missouri as a "Motorized bicycle" if the power was software limited by the Cycle Analyst to 3 HP and 30 MPH. As long as one doesn't speed, one will never be challenged by a policeman on power. Visibility is, as others have mentioned, poor. use a red battery bag with a big reflective spot. Trike is pretty low, which is great for aerodynamics. A four foot flag and enough strobe lights to light up grand central station would be a minimum, IMHO, to make this low trike noticeable. Split the battery pack and carry it low on either side in panniers. And lose the training wheels. My trike breaks spokes before it ever thinks about tipping over.

    Very nice trike. I like everything about it except for the heavy battery being so high. I have a Terra Trike Rambler with a 1000 watt Magic Pie wheel assembly. I have a rear rack with a saddle bag. I have a 48 volt 10 ah in one side of the bag and a 48 volt 13.5ah battery in the other. This gives me a range of over 55 miles and lowers the weight. I love riding recumbent e trikes!! 👍✌🖖

    In Indiana I believe this would qualify as a mo-ped which are allowed to go up to 35 MPH. Here they would have to be registered and plated, but insurance is legally optional, but highly recommended. Might be the same in your state, check with your local state police post.

    Wrong place for the battery. You rather place the controller on the rack and the battery behind the seat. It lowers the gravity center at the same time that keeps the controller cool. I did in mine. And I didn´t need those ridiculous "stabilizer" wheels

    What I wanna see is how ebikes do in relation to traffic in a 35 mph zone. Can you ride it out in the car lane, up hills, and not be in people's way? It's a tough order because people don't drive 35 in a 35. And if it can do that, what's the actual range in those conditions. Nice to meet you at your Greenback location a year ago!

    Just a thought on your video. Find a quiet place without background noise and a complete open area. Would make for a much better video. Looks like a great trike. I have a simple, home made peddle only recumbant trike. Thanks.

    I nearly got killed on a recumbent bike. Do you plan to have options for visibility? I'm researching getting an e-bike for daily use, and safety is a primary concern for me. I see the date on the video, so I'm guessing you may have already addressed this concern. There is almost no bike infrastructure in most Texas towns.

    They make flags on fiberglass poles just for that reason. I have two on both of mine. Still unfortunately make drivers see you. I rode motorcycles for some 40 years, and so people just don't see ya. Also, try a battery powered strobe light. Bike shops or on line should work for lightning and flags. Be safe. 🙂

    I think more work on the design battery placement and space for spare battery(s). Folding bikes are also better. the bike seems good. The power of the motor seems good if that is what the buyer wants and not just some assistance. Yeah the bike looks good, seems good. You could have said more about those back stabilizer things whatever that is never seen it on a recumbant before.

    In the EU & UK we have tight legal limits on power, speed & activation (through peddling). So we cannot use these features here. Otherwise looks interesting. A flag pole with a wind activated visual flapper would help with conspicuity. Essential, for all low slung recumbent cycles.

    Where would one ride that? It's too powerful to be legal on the street, you'd get lynched if you took it on a bike trail. I mean it's super cool, but I'm just curious as to where one would ride it?

    I don't think you can call this 3,500 watts? 78v x 20ah is 1500 watts. And the motor is at best rated 1,800 watts.

  • @TopGunBikes

    @TopGunBikes

    thank you, sidowse for explaining to dana putnam how it works.. to clarify the 78 v battery full charges to 88.4v we set the amps to 42amps. 88.4 x 42 amps = 3712w of power. the battery is a hi discharge rate of c7-c10 which means the cells can discharge at 140amp to 200amps which means setting at only 42 amps the cells never get hot or overheat which keeps the efficiency rating high and longer cell life since heat is the number one enemy of cells. we installed an 80 amp BMS and the controllers can handle 65 amps at a 12 mosfet controller and 90amps with a 18 mosfet controller. the motor has a peak rating of 5000w but continuous output at 4000w. we are running only 3700w . if i run the battery at full thottle which is a 20ah battery at 40 amps the battery will run for 30 minutes. which is about 20 mile range . but when you reach near top speed and slightly let off the throttle the watts used to maintain that speed drops to about 1500w. because it is acceleration that uses the most energy. second is wind resistance which wind overtaking acceleration in power consumption after a certain speed and bike used. so this trike definitely is 3500w and goes 42mph

    This is a death-trap. Ask any seasoned tadpole rider. Real-brake? Very bad idea. You need some very visible flags if trike is going to run with traffic. 40 MPH? Tadpoles with short wheelbase are twitchy enough 25MPH, but 40?! And as others have already pointed out....put the pack low. Nice beefy drive system though....would go great on an e-dirt-bike. PS:Trikes have 3 wheels, not five.

    Huh.. I don't see those "training wheels" being helpful at all.. if the bike leans around a corner the training wheel takes the force and launches you around backwards where you're likely to go into traffic or off a mountainside somewhere.. better to flip it and eat shit than to play kamikaze head first into traffic..
