There is a line in one of the verses that is a reference to a Beatles song, of whom Jeff Lynne was a huge fan. Listen to that fucking production and arrangement. For some reason, all of a sudden, those keys remind me of Daft Punk (Hey, you guys need to listen to them). Yes, those strings come in and out always adding to the dynamic, interest build and diversity, then a little dissonance or oddity is tossed in, a wrench in the works, but quickly pulled out of back to the groove. This is the profound and subtle song writing mastery of Jeff Lynne. Pure genius.

ELO--primarily Jeff Lynn--is known for combining rock and classical, and has a deep catalog of albums, hits, and great records. Jeff is known for his writing and producing, and has worked with other famous artists. I suggest starting ELO's their early, rawer, and athletic early incarnation, with Roll Over Beethoven--their breakout hit--which combines Beethoven's Ninth and Chuck Berry. I would love to hear La's reaction to its hyper, rolling drumbeat in the instrumental breaks. And Lynn sings like a man possesed. All the best.

Jeffy Lynne the lead singer, writer, composer, producer etc was a master at turning Beatlesque pop melodies and outfitting them with symphonic prog orchestration. Their 2 best and peak albums were Eldorado and Face the Music, which this song is from. There is some great live video of them during this era, you can see the cello and violin players perform, good stuff 👍
You two are the BEST‼️
If you were asked to play in the Traveling Willburys, you were already a legend. Jeff Lynne is one.
I saw ELO in 1986 at Wembley stadium and to see them live was phenomenal. Have you heard ELO's last train to London. You will love it. Keep rocking my friends 🏴🇬🇧
Great song
Everything ELO is gold. The obvious would be Mr Blue Sky for sheer audacity but a personal favourite is from a later album (Time) entitled Ticket to the Moon. Jeff Lynne is a musical genuis who still has his voice live decades later.
Black Sabbath & ELO are from Birmingham, UK. Both have positive messages with completely different styles.🙂
I love their version of Roll Over Bethoven. Great band with a lot of range - classical, rock, prog, pop.
La and Chee, you have one of the best selections of songs of classic rock by any reactors I’ve seen! Kudos, and I look forward to sharing your journey through that vast catalogue of great music.
A really revolutionary concept for a rock band to have almost a full standing orchestra on a permanent basis. Visionary! Thanks for your reaction.
Love you guys- enjoy this rabbit hole!
Very good, very underated band
OHHHHH YES, SO THIS WAS ONE OF THE BIG HITS OFF OF THEIR ALBUM ( FACE THE MUSIC ) 😊 THE OTHER WAS : STRANGE MAGIC

@@AirplayBeats La & Che, glad you dug this song, I knew it would surprise you. But in the future, please grab the link from the original album, as this one is the single cut and it's missing the first 20 seconds or so. Next from ELO I suggest the opening track to their 1976 album, A New World Record. The song is called, *"Tightrope".* You fellas will love it!
Fantastic band my suggestion is Tightrope with unbelievable orchestration
Prob one of the catchiest songs Ive ever heard
ELO has strings in their band even while traveling, hence the name Electric light Orchestra. The number of strings is greatly reduced during travel as opposed to recording.
There is a line in one of the verses that is a reference to a Beatles song, of whom Jeff Lynne was a huge fan. And in fact The Beatles song is one that McCartney wrote and sang lead on, Fixing A Hole where the rain gets in. And in fact, he collaborated with McCartney once the Beatles broke up and they had a hit together which I absolutely love, I've Had Enough.
❤ELO❤
I hope you get to the Wembly live show. Any live show. Youll see.
This band is so awesome! Check out "Tightrope " and "Overture/Fire On High" next. Also, do some Elton John. Check out "Have Mercy On the Criminal", "Harmony", "Burn Down the Mission", "Levon", and "Take Me To the Pilot".

Well guys back in day I had to take bus to get the 8-track tape and that was best thing to own music! Had to save the money including the bus fare thank you song.
This was my fav song for atleast a month
Nicely done boys!
Tightrope is where you should start guys. Or Mr. Blue Sky
Live versions of ELO are really worth checking out
So glad you guys have gotten a taste of ELO. It is a glorious rabbit hoe to go down. I would recommend "Strange Magic", or "Can't Get it Out of My Head" from their earlier period, or "Tightrope", "Telephone Line", or "Shangri-La" from New World Record, before you hit anything from the Out of the Blue album!

Yeah the El dorado album is pretty good.
Great review guys should try shangri la next brilliant thanks guys ❤
versatile band, creative, try tightrope, living thing, strange magic, last train to london, dont bring me down, showdown, sweet talking woman, telephone line, twiight, yours truly, ticket to v moon, hold on tight, had mre top 40 hits van any othr band, 70s n 80s, jeff still performs, all songs by jeff, lead guitar, rythem n lead vocal n producer. enjoy!

Lynne, not. Lynn.
You guys should do the live version. Any ELO songs, actually.
Saludos from Chile
check out their instrumental Fire on High... best intro of any song from that era !
I grew up hearing ELO tunes and love them. The lyrics, in this one, tho. Could you , also, comment on Jungian theory of projection? : D
ELO live is incredible! Jeff Lynne still has the great vocals, and the Orchestra is an extra bonus!Don't Bring Me Down, and Living Thing are great sounds, great reaction guys!
I'd like to see a reaction to "Rockaria"-heavy rock with operatic interludes-it'll help blow your mind!
Last Train to London is a good one as well. But, there are many others you’d enjoy as well.
"Don't bring me down"
Great Song ❤

Whatever that effect is call responding in the chorus so gd funky
Thank you both for your reactions. Have you reacted to ELO's "Roll Over Beethoven", "All Over the World", "Don't Bring Me Down", or "Showdown". And the list goes on. They have ALOT to react to. Lol

This was their ELO debut.
Y'all should go back to their first track to really hit the radio, and it was jaw droppingly unexpected. They covered "Roll Over Beethoven", the Chuck Berry classic, in a very unexpected way. It's on ELO 2.
Rockaria!, So Fine, and Do Ya from the New World Record album are straight up fire 🔥
This drummer toured with Black Sabbath in the early 80`s after Bill Ward left to get help.
Nice!😊
“Don’t Bring Me Down” “Mr. Blue Sky” the guy is a pop genius. Jeff Lynne. Also in Travelling Willburys (who y’all definitely might check out).
Nice one, guys! A couple great album cuts from their double 'Out Of The Blue' album are 'Jungle' and 'Wild West Hero'. But that entire album is Fire! Cheers, T
ELO Ma-Belle, Do-Ya & Fire on High
Saw them on the Face the Music tour. So good, no freaking reserved seats. Only came across those fir Billy Joel Glass Houses tour. I was like WTH is this. Im stuck seated here? Can't go to the stage? Lololol
👍😊
A few years back, ELO (easily 10+ pieces) played a gig in Hyde Park (I think)..just checked, it was Wembly….standing room only…old and young….you might find bits on KZread….speaks to the band’s popularity worldwide..great staying power because of great songs! Thanks for the reaction!
Do "Fire On High" by ELO.
