Electric Hideaway Headlight Conversion: 1969 - 1970 Mercury Cougar

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

In this video, Darrell replaces the old vacuum hideaway headlight system with our new electric actuator kit for '69 Cougars. We also have a '70 kit, and installation is basically the same. This is a great upgrade, and we can even give you "in store credit" for you old vacuum components if they're in good shape. Buy the electric conversion here:

There's also a 1967-1968 version here: www2.cougarpartscatalog.com/st...

Love it! After owning 3 1970 Cougars over the years this is a dream come true! All I can say is take my money! The only thing I don't like about it is the connections to the battery. Any ideas on how to connect the power and retain a cleaner look when we pop the hood?

Rather than connecting directly to the battery, you can connect the positive side to the starter solenoid (where your red + battery cable connects), and connect the ground wire to the chassis somewhere, like one of the bolts for the voltage regulator for example. You can also camouflage the wires a bit by wrapping them in black electrical tape like Darrell did. Another creative idea is to fish the wires through vacuum hoses, which hides them and keeps things looking pretty stock under the hood.

How do you get the can out if you have a car with a/c. will it fit between the condensor and the support, or would it be better to remove the support

+Leon Bray If you remove the front valence the can will simply drop down after removing the 2 bolts. If the car in the video had the condenser mounted the procedure might have been a bit more involved.

It probably could! Mention the length of shaft needed and we will accommodate! The can is the same, just rod length differs.

Not sure! The motors and wiring are straightforward, but the brackets that attach them to the car would likely need to be modified or remade to fit your application. Try getting in touch with the guy who makes these kits, here's his site: www.catheadlights.com/

Gotcha - in that case, try getting in touch with the guy who makes these kits, he may be able to custom fabricate something for you. Chances are the mounting brackets will be different. Website: www.catheadlights.com/
